Yet another Aspie book?
Do you think the world might need more Aspie biographies, or do we have enough?
Because I consider writing my own biography with main focus on the Aspie aspects. To help others, who might not be diagnosed yet and desperately seek to understand themselves, mainly women (I myself think that the main cause I was not diagnosed earlier is that I am not male, and I finally discovered Asperger's in an autistic guy's biography myself). But also as a kind of "therapy", to write down all that has caused me pain during the dark time when I did not know what was "wrong" with me, and maybe arrive at a positive attitude concerning my future. And, last but not least, as an entry to write again and - hopefully - get something published, as I have several other book ideas in my head, but haven't actually been writing for a long time and feel like it might be easier to start with something more factual, something I already know.
What do you think? So far I have only read "Pretending to be normal", which has some good aspects, but I find it lacking in a few points.
I am currently working on some information for my own blog and reading some spiritual self-help books that have actually opened up my eyes to a few things. Some of which I hope will open up for others on or off the spectrum regardless of their attachment to autism.
I am also working on a fictional story from time to time where some of the characters in it are diagnosed or misdiagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. The shrink in this book is actually a character who shows resentment for those on the spectrum, especially for the main character. His motives are based off his own father being a possible Aspie and he didn't like he way he treated his mother and is sometimes resentful of his younger brother also being on the autism spectrum. The shrink's idea is that he must conform all autistics or keep them away from society. The main character is just fighting to live a normal life through trial and error. The other characters will be explored if the first book proves successful.
