Your top 10 favourite thrash metal albums

Same deal as the death metal thread but this time thrash albums obviously.

Though I enjoy everything from Metallica’s RTL to Agent Steel’s “Unstoppable Force” (power/speed/thrash) I’m generally most passionate about the more primitive/violent side of the genre, so a lot of my choices are also influential on the development of the death and black genres and sometimes could even be described as these themselves also.

Again, in no real order:

SLAYER – Reign In Blood (or Hell Awaits perhaps)
VULCANO – Bloody Vengeance
SEPULTURA – Morbid Visions
VOIVOD – RRROOOAAARRR!! (or Killing Technology)
KREATOR – Endless Pain
DESTRUCTION – Sentence of Death EP
MERCILESS – The Awakening
SODOM – In the Sign of Evil EP
DISCHARGE – Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing ('hardcore punk' but also early proto-thrash IMO)
CARNIVORE - Retaliation

Ugh.. it hurts to leave Bulldozer and Slaughter out.

Sadly I still have yet to check out “The Ultraviolence”.
I think “Speak English or Die” is a pretty decent album but for crossover thrash I still prefer Carnivore, Suicidal Tendencies and the tongue in cheek Fearless Iranians From Hell.
Exodus’ “Bonded By Blood” and Dark Angel’s “Darkness Descends” are monsters of albums and just BARELY missed my list.

Have you checked out Voivod’s newest album yet?? I haven’t but hear it’s supposed to be pretty good.

Yeah man, I’ve heard the new Voivod being compared to Killing Technology and is supposed to be a definite return to form. I might look for it downtown at the local shops within the next few days.
‘Bonded By Blood’ kicks some serious ass. My favouite track is the godly ‘Piranha'. I have nothing against Rob Dukes but it’s too bad they felt the need to bastardize it with the “Let There Be Blood” remake.
This is right up there with Dimmu’s terrible re-release of “Stormblast” IMO.

LTBB was horrible, Rob Dukes is a great vocalist, but you cannot top the absolutely bonkers vocals of Paul Baloff. Exodus are trundling along nicely, Exhibit B was solid. "Burn Hollywood Burn" is so true!
