Idea for short story/novel not sure which yet

So I have an idea for a piece of writing, within the fantasy genre, not yet sure if it'll turn out to be a short story, novella or novel, but, I need good sites having to do with mermaids and magic to start my research. Also for little background bit for different characters I need site suggestiong for research on swordsplay, sword forging, archery and old-fashioned equipment construction methods for and materials most commonly used for construction of bows, arrows(shafts and heads) and quivers.

I'll update as I think of other facets of my "story" I need research site suggestions for.
