I personally think Card has been a hack for a quarter of a century at least. I'd like to say I was boycotting him because he was a homophobe, but it's more for his mediocre at best writing.
there are brilliant homophobic writers, like Vladimir Nabokov, but Card is no Nabokov.

Okay, I'm going to say it now, this entire fiasco is blatant hypocrisy. No, I don't agree with his views (it's not like it's even clear what his views are because they don't make any sense), and I think that trying to stop gay marriage like this is ret*d, but this is ridiculous. Artists are allowed to express whatever damn ideas they want, and this is an attempt at censorship, politics should be kept out of art unless it's the artists own politics. The liberal media is filled with hatred, hypocrisy, and idiocy just like the conservatives, though not quite as much.

Card is particularly nasty-and a little crazy. He says that he will try to work for the downfall of the U.S. Government if they legalize gay marriage, which any way you slice it is an overreaction.
I agree he has the right to write, but people also have the right to boycott his works and to protest his hiring by DC. It's an easy decision for me because I think he's been coasting on "Ender" and it's main themes for 30 years.

I think people should protest the comic, not the person, and this comic was killed before it even had a chance because such a fuss was made over the author. I wouldn't say Card is a nasty person, crazy, yes, some of his views being offensively stupid, yes, but besides his bizarre political views and his role in the National Organization for Marriage he isn't that bad of a person, we all have our vices and Card just happens to be rather vocal about his (apparently, he seems to contradict himself quite a bit). He claims that his directly anti-gay views are a thing of the past, and his views on marriage are more based around his views on the nature of marriage than of homosexuality. I don't agree with him in anyway and I'm opposed to NOM, but I think this was a little bit out of hand. I'm sure the same thing wouldn't have happened if someone like Richard Dawkins was writing. Go ahead, boycott the book, but petitioning for the author's removal is someone else entirely.

Aside from his desire to destroy the government of the country he claims to love if they so much as look askance at his favorite bigotry, he's not such a bad guy.

Um, yeah.

Besides, he is a hack. Ender's Game had some brilliantly original concepts, but the writing was lackluster at best; his novels since have become progressively less imaginative, and don't make up for it with any improvement in writing skills. Had his takeover of Superman gone through, I would not have read any of the issues, not only because I disagree with him profoundly on a personal basis, but also because I don't think he can write worth a damn.
