Is there a favorite album or song from Pink Floyd you'd recommend a beginner?

For mine I'll go with LADYTRON. I have 5 albums from them. They're kind of a mix or rock and synth. Almost New Wave.

I think they've been very good since their debut in 2000 at gradually evolving their sound. I really enjoy the latest album Gravity the Seducer with songs like White Elephant, Ace of Hz, and Aces High.

Goldfrapp is a close second.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon; classic.

Oh and I can listen to Moby for hours. I set his Play, 18, and Hotel on random and slept to it for over a year.

Beethoven and Liszt. I can listen to their piano music ad infinitum and always hear something different because of the complex strands of notes and phrases interwoven throughout.

I am a big fan of the album "Wish You Were Here". Each song. I think that album would be easy to get into as a beginner, but I don't know for sure.

Okay it seems like anytime I look into Pink Floyd I wind up looking into their more experimental works that are harder to get into.

It's weird because many times I get feedback based on the music I like that I should be into Pink Floyd.

In my opinion, this album may be the least experimental of all their albums. It has a very recognizable jazz, blues, rock n roll, psychedelia feel to it in my opinion. The full album is on YT if you want to check it out for free.

Piano music for me too, especially Debussy.

Mushroomhead, Opeth, Tool, my more intricate bands pretty much.

Can and have listened to the Grateful Dead for hours at a time - did a six hour drive to Las Vegas last month and pretty much had the Sirius XM Grateful Dead channel on the whole way both ways. Deadheads are pretty obsessive about keeping setlists, trading tapes, listening to songs from various concerts. I'm sure there are lots of Aspies in our ranks...

I could listen to Bob Marley, the Bee Gees, and UB40 all hours. I love classic music better than today's music, even if I was born in early 90's

Rush, Steely Dan, I suppose Pink Floyd on the technicality that some of their songs do seem to run for hours... ;)

(Then again, there's the fact that The Wall and The Final Cut basically are each one very long song that's divided up into sections. They might seem like several different songs, but when listened to in order, they tell one album-long story.)
