Hi!
I have a website about Autism/Asperger's/PDD and I am working at retooling it and I need your help.
One thing I'll be doing is giving away a free compilation of artistic works (an eBook) from anyone on the Autism Spectrum and I'd love to include anyone here who would like to be a part of it. This can include drawings, paintings, writings (stories, poems, fan fiction, etc.), website addresses/blogs if you have one/more, anything you'd like.
Nothing offensive and everything submitted must be your own work. And there's no required "subject" per se, it can be anything (again as long as it's not offensive). Also preferably in English as that is the only language I speak.
I need anything that isn't already in a digital format (such as hand drawings and paintings) to be emailed to me in a digital format such as jpg or gif (for hand drawings and paintings you can take a picture of it, upload it, and email it to me). Stories/poems/etc. written on your computer can be emailed to me as is, they don't need to be jpg or gif because they're already written on your computer. If you do something physical such as pottery; or skateboard; or ride quads as does a young man who has contributed pictures and stories; etc. please feel free to take pictures of it/them and email it/them to me for inclusion.
I'm also happy to include pictures of you if you'd like. However much or little information you'd like included, it's entirely up to you.
I'd also like to include success stories. As an example, one success I experienced was when the calls to go to the school to help my son de-escalate and/or bring him home slowed down to eventually only a few calls in his senior year.
Here's an example of success stories I've collected:
http://www.aspergers-and-pdd.com/aspergers-syndrome-success-stories.html
You'll see that the stories run the gamut, no success is too small to celebrate.
This eBook will be distributed for free to everyone who subscribes to my newsletter, in an effort to:
A) celebrate your talents and successes and
B) to encourage those who might be feeling less than "whole" because they're on the spectrum, and parents and other caregivers who need encouragement of their own to see the successes in their own children (young and old alike).
In addition, everyone who contributes will get a free copy if they wish to have one.
Your work will be fully attributed to you (or whatever name you'd like, or even anonymous if you'd like) so that you can get exposure of your work to more and more people around the world. For those of you aspiring to be professional artists, or even to be known as an artist, this is an excellent opportunity to get your works out there for others to see. And for those who don't want to be professional but are proud of their work this is your opportunity to show others.
This would be a great help to me as my goal is always to encourage parents/caregivers and those on the Autism spectrum themselves, and this free eBook would be an excellent addition in continuing to meet my goal. It would show readers that a diagnosis of Autism/Asperger's/PDD-NOS is so totally not the end of the world. Indeed in a few years I believe there'll be more of "us" (I too have been diagnosed, at 49 years of age) than there are "them" (those not on the spectrum or caring for someone on the spectrum).
The size of the eBook will be 8 1/2 x 11 but if your artwork is smaller than that no worries as it'll still work. If your artwork is larger than that size can you please reduce it in size to no more than maybe 7 1/2 x 10 (gives me room for margins).
Maybe you'll want to include some information about yourself, again I would love it, as would my readers.
The initial deadline, to be included in the first publish, is the end of this month June 30 2013.
If you miss that deadline it's okay as I will be doing additional publishes and can add your submissions in at any time but I would really appreciate as many submissions as possible by the initial deadline so that I can move forward with this. Please please
There is no limit as to how many submissions you'd like me to include.
You can contact me from one of the pages listed below:
http://www.aspergers-and-pdd.com/aspergers-syndrome-success-stories.html
http://www.aspergers-and-pdd.com/contact-us.html
Or you can email me at thecontractorsgroup [at] gmail.com (replacing the spaces and [at] with the @ sign (just like a regular email address with no spaces)).
Or you can PM me although I don't always catch my PM's, I don't always receive notice that I've received a PM so it's not necessarily the preferred method of contact.
Please help me out on this, I would be so appreciative.
Thank you so much for your time and submissions! Have an outstanding day and weekend!
Diane
