Whooshing, rushing, inwards bounding
Assault crushing until you are mindless
Too bright, too loud, too much, too resounding
Nothing clear, or straight any more

It must cease, you must leave, block it somehow
Giving voice to it may not even work
It's happening here, it's happening now
Such reality is too real, this you know

Panic, feelings building, a needing to scream
Hold it in, control it, delay it for now
But you can't, it feels like a really bad dream
You want to waken and leave it behind

The rage, the control has slipped from your grasp
The faces they stare, though you care not any more
The explosion of letting it out makes them gasp
But once happened...there's no closing the door

I am not a great consumer of poetry. But if the prerequisite of a good poem is that it touches you and it gives words to how you feel which then solicits an emotional response. Then your poem has done all three. Thank you for sharing.

"But once happened, there's no closing the door." A powerful piece of work. Thanks for posting this, keep writing!

Good job! You should get that poem published somehow--people will know what it's like to try to hold back a meltdown. Then they'll be more respectful.
