Hey I know there is a thread for posting links to artwork but I was hoping for a gentle critique so I decided to make a separate thread.
I was hoping for some opinions/advice on way to proceed with this painting to finish it. The link to the painting is below

It is acrylic on linen cloth. I am painting it to use as a curtain divider to be put on a door. I want it to resonate peace and calm while also having an otherworldly feel that matches meditation music.
I am pretty happy with the composition although I might include another element on top as a new layer and use what I have already as the background image.
What I am not sure about is the colour combination and overall tonal key of the painting. Also I not sure how to finish off the mountains- what colours to use and what brush strokes to use to add detail.
Any other comments/opinions/advice would also be appreciated. Just please be gentle.

(I don't think I put up the link right but if you just copy and paste the web url between the two img symbols into your browser you will get to the image)

Cool. I'm not much of a painting critic, but I think it's nice

looking good :)

Personally I would lighten the mountains at the back to give more spatial depth. look up aerial perspective and you will see what I mean. Depending on the effect you want you could either scumble a light layer of pale blue over the mountains, or you could use a pink similar to what you have in the sky. The blue would give the normal aerial perspective (ie things get lighter and bluer as they get further away) the pink would give a more sunset style of effect. Using aerial perspective would also increase the otherworldly effect you are looking for too as the contrast between the sky and the mountains would be reduced giving a more hazy effect..

A few links to examples that illustrate what I'm trying to convey:

Aerial perspective

Aerial perspective 2

aerial perspective with sunset tones

Hope that helps :)

It looks good for what it is. I'm personally not a big fan of the cartoonish feel of it though. If you're trying to make the painting feel peaceful and calm, I think you really need to use a different color scheme though (more natural/darker colors), it gives me more of a lively impression when I look at it.
