Deal with a lot of these guys in the midwest, die-hard Bring Me The Horizon, Black Veil Brides, and Asking Alexandria fans. They've really gotten on my last nerve so to speak. Band practice, "Hey, you have to play/do vocals exactly like this because this is the whatevercore sound we're looking for".

I was under the impression that as a band and musicians, you were supposed to create your own unique sound and style.

I can't do it anymore. I keep trying, but it's really frustrating trying to work with somebody who doesn't wanna make the music fresh or make it sound different.

Considering most of the musicians in my age range in the midwest are Scene kids, I've purchased some instrument programming software for drums and bass until I can find like-minded and open-minded people who wanna play orgininal music and not do what everybody else is doing.

Am I the only one? I know the Metal scene in L.A. is all Thrash, Death, and Black. I know Chicago has some pretty decent industrial bands like the Obscene Kiss, not sure what's up with NYC. But am I the only one who's sitting here saying, "ok, all the whiny emocore music is starting to get old. Time to change the channel for a little while."?

(Insert garbage prefix here)core is lame... however I am saddened that there is no melodic death metal on the genre list.

Eh, I like to keep it simple. I don't wanna put everything under a specific hat, because then it just gets way too over-complicated for my tastes. But melodic Death Metal? Well, it is Death Metal, you could vote that way.

The only major “core” subgenres I can stand are a select few grindcore bands (Napalm Death, Carcass, Repulsion, Assuck, Agathocles) as well as some hardcore punk.
I voted for black metal since it’s what I listen to most (followed closely by dm and thrash) and it’s a metal subgenre where I feel there’s a good number of bands that have managed to keep what they do innovative and fresh. It may not be the early nineties or anything but ‘war metal’, black/thrash and extreme black/death are as big as ever right now and there is a very wide plethora of bands to choose from.

Judging by your username I suppose you like bm? Do you have any favourite albums??

I love all types of metal, but i loathe the whole "scenecore" nonsense, or whatever it is called. Bands like Bring Me the Horizon, Black Veil Brides, Asking Alexandria etc are just utter rubbish, so i turn down when their music is played.

I like a mixture of death, black and progressive.

I don't know or want to know what scenecore is but I am not sure it qualifies as metal.
