I know I've done this several times throughout life, but at the moment I can only remember one specific example.
When I was in the third or fourth grade, I asked my friend why she was a year older than everyone else in our grade. She whispered into my ear that she had a learning disorder.
Until a few years ago, I thought that by 'disorder', she meant she had entered different grade levels out of order. For example, I thought maybe she had gone to second grade before first grade or something like that...
Her elementary education according to my old definition of a 'disorder': Kindergarten, second, first, third, fourth.
Gosh dang it.
