I love the Lydian mode. So lush when playing 7th's and 9ths, and 11ths. Mix in some suspended notes and it's just eargasm. Chord progressions sound great in Lydian ... especially when they don't resolve.

I'm not fond of natural major or natural minor. I don't find they have the characteristics of other modes.

In general I like all the church modes, but Lydian is my fav.

I'm a Dorian and Mixolydian person myself.

I love the octatonic scale, too.

I started working on a violin sonata today and it turns out it's in G Phrygian. :D

Ever since I listened to the Gary Jules cover of "Mad World," by Tears for Fears, I've been in love with F Dorian. I like G Dorian as well, although I'd have to say that my favorite key/mode is probably G Melodic Minor. Sends chills down my spine everytime...especially with progressions like IV - V - i; ooooohhh. I also like F# Minor a lot (the key signature for Pink Floyd's "Time," and Ozzy's "Crazy Train," among other songs).

The Lydian scale works well for grunge guitar so I spend a lot of time on it, usually in C because its easy and common however I spend a lot of time with the guitar half a step down in D# so that makes the C scale a B in reality.
