Post some of your favorite live performances of some of your favorite songs, and perhaps a couple of reasons why they're your favorite. In my opinion live recordings can't do seeing the band in the flesh and in person justice, but are a good indicator as to how they play live.

One of my favorite songs from my childhood. The audience participation during this song gets intense. Edsel kind of screws up the lyrics in one of the lines though. Nonetheless, I would love to see Dope live one of these days.

Whatever Niklas Kvarforth touches turns to demented genius. His vocals are twisted, but also have a human quality.

I would post the version on the Black Mass Krakow 2004 DVD, but that probably would be a violation of the terms of service. Go seek it out anyway, it's a tour de force of a concert. I have the DVD.

What are some of your favorite live performances?

I've posted this before, but this instantly comes to mind. I'd love to have the chance to see Skuppy live.

Rammstein is another band I would loooooooooooove to see live :D

Hmm, for some reason I'm having trouble embedding the second one on my end. :?

What a beauty, that one. 21 minutes of breathtaking playing, featuring a short intro solo, the beautiful main theme, a saxophone solo and a guitar solo that builds up to a frenzied climax.

Let me describe this one as i did to some of my fellow Zappasters:

it starts off unusually subdued for a early 1976 solo, sounding like someone edited in a solo from the Fall tour that year (you probably don't know this, but Zappa varied his sound and style a lot, and even more so from tour to tour). After a couple of minutes of quiet, melodic playing, some crowd members get restless and Zappa chews them out (not without some of his brand of irony). Then he unleashes one of the heaviest solos he ever did, the guitar screaming for its very life and the drummer (Terry Bozzio) gradually altering the rhythm to something resembling a 1970 Black Sabbath outtake, only better. The group sounds like it is hanging on to every single note, about to fall apart with fury. Then a series of dissonant notes, joined by the entire group, completely abandoning the original chords, only to fall back into the usual chords, being played as noted before, then a slightly botched segue back into the main melody (not that it matters in this case) and the familiar (to fans) closing theme seguing into the next tune, Advance Romance.
