Hi all,

New to the forum, thought I'd make my first post ^^.

So I'm undiagnosed, and think I'm possibly somewhere on the spectrum, perhaps not necessarily an Aspie, although I see myself in many of the traits. My question is, do Aspies/Autistics tend to be exhibitionists? I consider a large part of myself to be very extroverted (but never always had the tools/social skills to optimally interact with people. I was very outgoing as a child, until my middleschool to high school phases where I was a social pariah who clustered with the other pariahs.) Now I've been told I'm quite charming and socially fluid (although a lot of it is very learned, and a lot of it comes from practicing and concentrating on empathy). I also consider myself a severe exhibitionist (I do burlesque, nude modeling and love being on stage). I was just wondering if other people on the spectrum gravitate toward this kind of objectified attention and why or why not?

Thanks!
Christina

People with Asperger's want very much to be liked, and want human companionship. It's just that we really suck at social skills, unable to make friends, and not really sure how to go about it. While most Aspies are shy, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of exhibitionism, as one might try to make a public show to get attention in order to make friends.
