OK, so my list of favourite artists at the moment is something like (in random order): Iced Earth, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Miriam Yeung...

[halts] Did I just say Miriam Yeung?

I am afraid that I have done so - I have listened via Youtube to some of her Cantopop type stuff and it seems to be calling my otherwise metalhead musical tastes into question.

Am I starting to lose my metal-ness? I think so, as I am starting to hum some of Miriam Yeung's stuff rather than Iced Earth.

What can I do? :help:

I dont think its something that should concern you. Anybody can listen to anyone they want, I think a alot of people have a range of musical tastes. I like metal as well, but I also like dance pop sometimes or rap. You shouldnt limit yourself, feel free to expand to whatever catches your ear.

What can you do? Stop whining, perhaps? I joke.

Seriously though, who cares what you listen to? Putting yourself in a box achieves nothing. I did it for many years, and am now the happiest I've ever been with my musical tastes because I just accept what I like even if everyone else hates it.

I have a Spice Girls song on my PC fer chrissakes, and even my fiancée thinks I'm a twat now. BUT I DON'T CARE!

my musical play list has absolutely everything but male country singers.
Music is music and it is good in any form (other than country by male singers, of course).
I usually keep my music real low or turn off if anyone other than one specific boss is in the office because people just find it so odd if music goes from like Rod Stewart, to Pizzicato Five, to Tupac, to french reggae it just makes people ask questions lol.

Does it matter? I'm a bit of a metaller myself but also will sing along to Fleetwood Mac, Bonnie Tyler and Outkast with no shame whatsoever. I'm not into this whole what's cool and what's not thing. Hell I find rhythms on buses and shopping trolleys...When your friends think you've gone cuckoo because you're humming along to machinery that's when you should start to fret lol

haha
I dont hum, but i start nodding my head and tapping my feet and fingers all the time to the rhythm of a train track or while on a bus. As if i were listening to a good song. I get stared at by friends when they notice. Luckily not strangers so much, in chicago that's nothing compared to what you come across in public transit.

Lol and yay in equal measure! Someone who gets it!! I often think that if my co-ordination didn't suck so badly that I'd be the greatest dancer ever. I'll find rhythms in just about anything and it becomes part of me in a way. Stupid feet!

Imagine being stuck in an apartment with a granddaughter and 18 hours a day of Noggin (TV for preschoolers)...you don't know the meaning of the word 'torture'...;)

Taste changes - when I was younger I listen a lot to rock and hard; now I am almost totally struck to J. S. Bach (1685-1750)...

Wow, I don't know who any of those people mentioned in the OP are. I could tell you loads about fiddle tunes, though.
