Amigurumi and Cross Stitch?

Who does Amigurumi? They are so cute! I want to make all sorts of cute little dolls and plushies in Amigurumi style. Any starter tips? I don't want to use digital instructions on Etsy and would really love to buy a book with both words and pictures on how to make them.

I also want to try cross stitch. I think a kit would be easiest to get me started.
