My folks think Tangerine Dream sounds morbid?

I'm currently staying at my mom and aged stepdad while my mom recovers from post-op knee surgery.

My mom thinks Tangerine Dream sounds "morbid". Not sure who here has heard of them or listened to them but I like their "space music" and ambient stuff. Where would they get the idea that it's so depressing? Are they just not used to it? My stepdad doesn't even want to listen to Tchaikovsky anymore. He's 88, almost 89. He is hard of hearing to start with, but what he does hear, he doesn't like!
