I was curious if there are any Andy Warhol fans here. I visited the Andy Warhol Museum after Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. If you go to the top floor, you can see early family photos and drawings he did as a child. Then you basically go through his life's work as you descend the building. Of course, some famous pieces are at other museums.

I love the repetition and humor in his work, as well as the religious investment he has in the images he makes. I don't care about celebrity or money like him, but appreciate how he articulates himself. It was very inspiring to go through his work, and think about his own struggles and eventual self-acceptance.

I also found a very good documentary on his life, posted on YouTube:

I am superficially familiar with his career as pop culture icon. I know he was stabbed by a crazed woman and nearly died. I know he made alot of 'experimental black and white films. Had a gang of New York bohemians follow him around in a cult-like setting in the 60's. Was quite eccentric. Made a alot of money.

He was shot, but yeah, that's basically right. The movies are pretty funny, at least conceptually. One 8-hour shot of the Empire State Building  I made it through one minute.
