Share a song that explains you or makes you happy
This is a fun experiment that can help us all get to know each other a little better. I have many, as I'm sure most do, but try to keep it to one at a time, there's plenty of time to post more later... For those that can post links, try to include one to assist others in finding it.
"Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Shinedown's cover is an extremely close second, (and the one I sing more often myself).

Since ASD means various parts of the brain stop developing at various ages...
Just how the hell am I supposed to know WHICH age to act, anyway?

The Muppet Movie -- GOD, you just made me feel OLD. Happy, but OLD. LOL
Love me some Ozzy, and you showed me two that I like and didn't even know it.
I almost feel like Nightwish wrote this song just for Aspies...
"Nemo", BTW, is Latin for 'no one', and I think we all feel like 'no one' at times, especially as Aspie / ASD individuals.

Songs that explain me and songs that make me happy are two different things.
Some of the songs that explain me might seem mellow or melancholy because they're more serious.
Some of the songs that make me happy bring back really fun memories.
Here's a few more for my life and my loves:
I Am A Rock - S&G
Fine on the Outside - Priscilla Ahn
Magic Power - Triumph
Follow You - BMTH
Everlong - Dave Grohl
Fall Back Down - Rancid
A Willie Nice Christmas - Kacey Musgraves & Willie Nelson
Life Is Better With You - Michael Franti
Michael C Hall - Heroes (Bowie)

Wasn't sure about posting this, but here is a playlist of some songs I wrote and recorded from 2005-2011 -- Looking back, I think some of them are the autism-related frustration coming out -- it's almost like I knew before I was diagnosed, or even suspected. Think Linkin Park meets Guns 'N' Roses and Pearl Jam. Considering my motor skill issues now, I'm confident I cannot duplicate these now, nor will I ever be able to do full scale recording like this again. I had to do overdubbing just to make this happen, and some of these tracks took months of work.

I just saw your link. Wow! You are incredibly talented and I'm extremely impressed!
I added Likes to all of your songs.
Have you made any record deals?
My son writes and produces his own music too so I can appreciate how much work that was.
Everyone - please check out Anomaly's link!

1) Thank you so much for the kind words and the likes.
2) Unfortunately, no. I write fiction as well, and Hollywood and Nashville seem very much a members-only club. Besides, with my worsening motor skill issues and the damage to my voice from asthma and bronchial infections, I'm not sure I could replicate any of this today.
3) Yes, what made this possible was digital recording equipment, overdubbing, a ridiculous amount of do-overs and retakes (solo for The Color Of Time took 43 takes, Anomaly had 70+ hours in the track alone). None of these tracks were recorded straight through -- every single one loaded up a 24-track recorder, verse and chorus elements on separate stereo pairs. I was just fortunate to have a very patient benefactor that had equipment and didn't mind me using their studio -- sadly, they passed of cancer four years ago.
I do still work on some riffs and stuff from time to time, though not like I once did.
Looking back, I think Anomaly, The Color Of Time, Slave To Society, Kiss The Sun and Crossroads are all frustrations of autism coming out.

I heard this song for the first time 2 days after my I got my ASD diagnosis. The lyrics to the chorus hit me like a thunderbolt and, whilst they're not singing about ASD, the rest of the lyrics revealed themselves to be pretty apt too. I guess they capture the sense of relief and liberation that I got from my diagnosis, but also acknowledge that the diagnosis isn't a magic bullet that will fix everything and that it's on me to make the most of it and start to live life as my true authentic self.
Walt Disco - Weightless
fear I was far too late
To the party, oh no
No fun, no fun at all
The clock ticks I better get started
Oh no... falling behind
Sisters of mine
Oh... when is the right time
Oh god... oh god
Am I weightless
Am I dreaming
Am I lovely
Or at peace
Chorus:
For all of my life
For all of my life
I was in the dark
Was I never my type
Oh please don't cry
It's not too late to start
For all of my life
For all of my life
I was in the dark
Was I never my type
Oh please don't cry
It's not too late to start
I guess it's down to me impress
Though my heads not sturdy at least
The mirror did not detest
What she saw
I am feeling pretty?
Oh no... falling behind
Sisters of mine
Oh... when is the right time
Oh god... oh god
Chorus:
For all of my life
For all of my life
I was in the dark
Was I never my type
Oh please don't cry
It's not too late to start
