This is a poem I wrote about my experience
being neurodiverse is difficult
in that you don't want to fit in cause it just doesn't occur to you
but feeling like you have to
cause you become aware of the concept
and so you pretend
but still don't fit in
cause it's not who you are
you ache to find the right people but to do so you must show you don't fit in
and sometimes learn the hard way that you can't trust everyone you meet
no matter how badly you want to know them
sometimes you feel shame
sometimes you say the wrong thing at the wrong time
never wanting to repeat it
you tell yourself that
but know it'll happen again
cause you don't know how to stop it
sometimes the things you say don't make sense to most people and you just have to accept being misunderstood
sometimes you feel things that no one you know experiences
you can't explain them but they want you to
you feel inappropriate anxieties
you're aware they're not right for the situation
yet that doesn't make em go away
in fact you get anxious by that very fact

It's very literal, but also very relatable.

The biggest insult to the memory of the Holocaust is not denying it but using it as an excuse to commit genocide against the Palestinian people.
Yea. I wrote it literal on purpose tbh. I like metaphors and symbolism a lot also but I felt like being more honest with this one and more understandable if I were to share it with other autistic people. Some autistic people I know don't understand things if they're not direct. I wanted it to be accessible for all autistic and people who are neurodiverse. I sometimes forget to not use sarcasm or figures of speech around certain people.
