I know of mobb deep. The others I've never heard of, but I'm loving what I'm learning of, especially outsidaz.
TBH I'll third that - ie. Prodigy and Havoc (Mobb Deep) probably have my favorite rhyme schemes (plus great voices - also RIP Prodigy) and Havoc's done a lot of amazing things with production whether his 'You Are My Starship' (Norman Connors) rework on 'Trife Life' or just so many of the other beats on Da Infamous and Hell On Earth.
Someone else hip hop lost sadly quite early, mega talent IMHO (very similar to ODB) would be Too Poetic / The Grym Reaper. I was just listening to 'Nowhere to Run' and got a great reminder of how he was able to bounce off the walls lyrically and thematically - like some real Bruce Lee 'way of no way' stuff. I guess he passed in 2001 from cancer? Sucks seeing that happen to people that early - especially with that much talent.
Other mentions:
- Wu Tang (obviously)
- Nas
- A Tribe Called Quest
- Cannibal Ox (2001 era)
- Ghetts (UK)
- Truemendous (UK)
- JME (UK)
- (Santan) Dave (UK)
- Lil Ugly Mane (Oblivion Access, Flick Your Tongue, etc.)
- Danny Brown
