Don't know if any of you have heard of this, but it's the most awesomely wicked idea I've ever seen/heard/whatever. Well maybe not the most, but it's close.
The Hour is a Canadian show (they call it a 'television newsmagazine') broadcast on CBC that's hosted by a guy named George Stroumboulopoulos every Monday-Thursday. That's not really all that important, but I thought I'd provide some background info.
With the (apparent) decline of record store sales, the people behind the show decided that they were going to reinvent the way in which we hear and acquire our music. Basically, they want anyone interested to burn a CD of their favourite music and drop it off in a random spot for a complete stranger to find. Whoever finds such a CD is supposed to listen to it and then repeat the process.
These are the "official" instructions:
STEP 1: Make a mixed CD of your favourite tunes. Somewhere on the disc write: "DISC DROP - cbc.ca/thehour"
Be sure to include a track-listing so people can track down more music by the artists on your disc.
STEP 2: Drop off your disc in a random public place.
STEP 3: Go to the "I Dropped a Disc - What Now", click on the comments, and write down where you dropped off your disc and the track-listing. Check back later to find out who picked it up, and where it's heading next.

And they don't just want Canada involved in this--they're hoping people all over the world will participate. I believe it started in late '07, and as far as I know there have been discs dropped in Canada, the US, and even in the UK.
I plan on making one myself, but I doubt anyone in my area has even heard of ODP or The Hour so it'll probably be in the same spot for another 50 years. x3
Anyone else thinking of joining the operation?

...and those garden gnomes people were stealing and taking photos of in strange places then sending the photos back to the owner.
sounds like a fun idea though.
I may do it also
This also reminds me of the 'where's George' thing going on where you write or stamp the internet address---> Where'sGeorge?
Then you can log on and see if your dollar's travels have been logged in.
