You know those songs you listen to when you just WANT to groove to your bad mood? Your cat yelled at you, your girlfriend threw up on the carpet, and you just want to hear something that goes well with your crappy day/life, to heck with cheering yourself up. Well, if you have songs like that, share them here.

Here's some playlists I have for some "moods" of Morisette songs which reflect particular moods (in the order I have them in to play, currently- and I also have happy, introspective, and catchy playlists of her):

Angry:

Sister Blister
Narcissus
You Oughta Know
Right Through You
Bent For You
Sympathetic Character
Spineless
Would Not Come
I Was Hoping
Fear Of Bliss
Purgatorying
Can't Not

Mopey:

Simple Together
Flinch
That Particular Time
(Hidden Track)
I Was Hoping
Can't Not
Sorry To Myself
Hands Clean ((Included because it's mopey in the acoustic version))
Hands Clean [Acoustic]
Unsent
Are You Still Mad
Offer

There's more I can think of but that's a start.

Hey, I make mood playlists too!

Here's my "towering rage" one:
Mogwai - Mogwai Fear Satan
Isis - Deconstructing Towers
Bonk - Waiting in the Car (Norwegian thrash metal for the win!)
Mono - Com
Shining - Goretex Weather Report (this is Godzilla's pump-up music)
Ministry - Burning Inside
The Mad Capsule Markets - Cracker
Sigur Ros - Popplagid (for a downright apocalyptic mood)
Milhaven - A Simple Plan
Godspeed You Black Emperor - BBF3
Explosions in the Sky - A Poor Man's Memory

Depression:
Sigur Ros - Vaka (if there's a song that comes any closer to capturing the sheer soul-crushing that depression brings, I'm afraid to hear it)
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Sonata No. 8, Pathetique
Ludwig van Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata
Doveman - Secret
Something Corporate - Konstantine
Gary Jules - Mad World
Spiritualized - Broken Heart
Radiohead - Exit Music (For a Film)
Mono - Mere Your Pathetique Light
Broken Social Scene - Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl
Sufjan Stevens - Flint
The Wrens - Happy (a song named Happy in the depression list omg wtf?)
Dreamend - Passing

These are just highlights, though. My playlists are huge 8O

Guns 'N Roses - Sympathy For The Devil
Luca Turilli - Demonheart
Queen of the Damned soundtrack - Forsaken
Jekyll and Hyde musical - Confrontation

Excellent taste in music there ajs_line_of_silver. But depressing sounding music makes me happy for some reason. I guess it's just a coincidence that a lot of the music I like happens to be depressing.

the smiths cheer me up no end. when i'm angry - something LOUD.

and techstep - is simon bassline smith anything to do with smith and mighty?

"coded language" by Krust is a winner too - all that list bit at the end is great for screaming along to in the car.

-lol that happens to me with really angry music I just start happily bouncing off the walls with a big smile some of my friends think I am nuts, but if I am really #!*^ off when I start listing to it I just get angered and that can b fun. but with sad types of music I just stay down even if I wasn’t in to bad a mood when I started listing. I think I mite be a Goth under all this geek cos a lot of my favoured music could be considered depressing.

I was not implying that it was not good, its possibly not mopey but a type of sad feeling.

I think what it does for me is it can take me being silly-happy and turned it into something more refined that I feel a lot better about. That and when I am in a down or depressive mood I do get off on a real somber and burnt track; instead of making me feel worse it almost kinda adds some kind of spitual beauty or higher sense to what I'm feeling if that makes any sense.

As for a lot of the angry jam-out type tracks, at least with the dark jungle, I've mentioned in another thread from a while back that when I'm driving on a real nice spring day and cranking that stuff it's like the beauty of things arround me is amplified. Not that the music offsets it in the bad way, it's more like that beautiful weather makes the music that much more beautiful, the music makes the weather that much more beautiful, and again, it can get going back and forth like that till I'm getting chills and sometimes even tears in my eyes if I've got the right stuff in. Especially real moody and epic tunes, epic stuff gets me every time.
