And you're calling that, your attending a concert by a musical group, your "first gig"?

Is this another usage of a word that I'm confused about?

I've always thought a "gig" was a job that one did themselves or in reference to someone else's job being their "gig".

well, we always referred to a gig as when we're on stage...

We used to call what you're saying as 'going to a concert'...

whatever you want to call it, have fun.
