Random MLK Day poem

I thought I'd write a poem
as a change of pace
But words are scarce
and perhaps sad
It is MLK Day
Surely they miss him
Still, I typed, the computer's buzz all of a sudden audible
for the first time ever, it seemed
And I wondered what else I'd been ignoring

I usually don't write poetry, per se; mostly song lyrics, which have meter and rhyme (for the most part). It can be somewhat constricting though.

MLK
Went away
With a bullet made of lead.
Like Lincoln and like JFK
The good are soon made dead.
No one murdered Hitler.
Stalin died in bed.
Mao Lived a long, long life
And killed many that he led.
Jesus Christ was nailed to death
Because he preached of peace.
The good guys never seem to last.
Will murder never cease?
