I love Rise Against 2 but they're not metal.

Rise Against is a punk band.

As for Protest the Hero, they are alright. They have some pretty sweet songs. I really like their song Wretch. But the very best modern metal band is Mastodon. They are easily the most unique and talented of the new round of modern metal bands. Their Blood Mountain album is a brilliant album and will go down in metal history.

I would say some of the best are Disturbed and System of a Down. I also heard this band called Black Tide that was really cool, but they aren't so well known yet.

I'm inclined to agree. That said, it's only 9 years in and I already know of several bands I enjoy more than Protest The Hero.

More people should enjoy Nevermore. That's all I have to say right now.

A majority of Disturbed's new albums sound alike, and System of a Down is more alternative metal/nu-metal.

Yeah, I'm going with these two.

I can't call that music metal, its more like screamo or 'metal core'. Anything with 'core' at the end is pretty gay and meant for junior high school girls. It would be ignorant of me to call them bad musicians though, they obviously have some talent. But its nothing new or original. There are like a thousand bands with the same sound as them and even the same band name structure and method for naming songs and albums
