Changes every few weeks - but the most played tune on my iPod right now is: The Killers: The World We Live In.

Other staples through the years:
Can't Always Get What You Want
Everlong
Do You Realize?
Under Pressure
How Soon Is Now?
Stuck in a Moment
If I Had A Million Dollars
Stairway to Heaven
Rocket Man

So many too choose from - but I like music with thought-provoking lyrics with heart-breaking vocals. I also like alliteration and puns in the lyrics, Jack Johnson and BNL are masters.

Gotta agree on How Soon Is Now and Everlong, two timeless songs, IMHO.

A few of my favorites, in no particular order:

New Order - The Perfect Kiss
BT - Remember
Underworld - Pearl's Girl
Radiohead - Idioteque
Massive Attack - Dissolved Girl
My Bloody Valentine - Loomer
Portishead - Roads

"You Are Mine" - David Haas

It is the most emotionally moving song I have ever heard.

It's not a song because it contains no singing, but anyway, my favourite piece of music is Mozart's Clarinet Concerto.

it is difficult to say.
i will talk about modern music (not classical) here.

i have liked many songs for different reasons, but the first that comes to mind is "axis - bold as love" by jimi hendrix (the album version).

it seems extra-terrestrially advanced in the last part of the song. it is hard to think of a human crafting such a sound painting from calculation only. if i have a feeble "spirit", then that was the song that stoked it most.

the song that had the most effect on me physically was "st alphonso's pancake breakfast (where i stole the margarine)" by frank zappa on the apostrophe album.
it is the most hilarious melody i have ever heard. i am not concerned with the lyrics, but the arrangement and design of the melody is like the funniest cartoon i ever could conceive. when i first heard it, i laughed so hard i nearly choked, and i was very dizzy just half way through it so i had to stop it or i may have experienced a medical emergency..

i like a lot of zappa's stuff as my favourite music, but he has a another style that i do not like (the italian crooning stuff, and the dirty joke stuff).
but his mind i think is the most advanced in recorded musical history, although his material may not be "danceable" to .

maybe number 3 in my list is "honesty" by billy joel. it is so true to me. i so endorse his every word in that song (i did take notice of the lyrics which are phenomenal).. he is a genius of succulent flavor.

"big shot" is my second favorite song by him. i like a lot of his pre 1980 stuff.

i like kate bush and supertramp ("rudy" is especially interesting) and early joe cocker and 1980's stevie wonder (master blaster/songs in the key of life etc)

i have the complete discographies (that is every song they released on every album) of zappa and supertramp and stevie wonder and elton john and billy joel.
i have lots of joan armatrading too.
god............blah blah blah

actually that is all i have to say because my mind is flooded now with all the songs i like and i wish to write them all which is silly.

Me too; it's been sort of my "theme song" for a few years.

Anyway, my favorite verse from "Name" is:

You grew up way too fast
Now there's nothing to believe
When reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio

And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name
