of my satirical/gallows-humored sci-fi epic :M

and im thinking its safe to call it an epic now, its a 1000 pages, and i still have a 4th book to write, and MAYBE a 5th. just cus i like the geometry :D 4 is cool 5 is also cool, 3 is too short + done to death :D

ive got shedloads to correct and polish tho, but that for later :M
the third title is a bit tricky to translate to english, but goes something more or less like "the last fleet/journey of the worlds/globes/planets"

i had a hint-ish humorous title for the first "space, stars and bisquits" and once i'd established the smirk, i decided on grandeur titles for the rest. #2's called "guardians of eternity"
im broke as s**t, nothing works, no friend, no woman, but THIS
is ACTUALLY one of the few few few goals i made myself "i wanna write a book"

now ive finished the 3rd one, on a concept and characters i had imagined since i was 15. praaawd 8)

congrats :D

Keep writing & maybe get it published (seriously) (I need something new to read)!

p.s. I wrote a few things too (much shorter than yours) Any suggestions on what to do with the stuff a person writes; leave it sit in a pile in your room, leave it on the computer, show it to someone, try to sell it, etc. I can never tell if something I wrote is decent (my longest thing is about 102 pages/really short compared to your epic)

i feel exactly the same, i have no idea wether what i write is good or it sucks :D
im hoping to get it published some day tho, in my minority language: norwegian, of course:D
and then some day, i can hope hope hope for a translation, but first of all, i gotta finish writing it all

and 102 pages is good, before i managed to finished the first book, my longest ever was two unfinished attempts at the same idea, at 40 and 70 pages, before then i only wrote short stories. i got about 10 short stories about the same characters, but with some canonic inconsistencies.
my stupid dad insisted i let him read those INSTEAD of the novels, and i try to tell him that the short stories are just for my own practice sake, and that i dont even intend them to be read. they are practice to do the... novel! read the novel, dad!
he may even be dyslectic, without wanting to admit it. i dunno

cool

i begun typing up a few pages on the 4th book yesterday evening, but i need to be in the right moods to write, so no writing today!

im a bit worried about the final product tho, cus im writing mostly for myself, i havent planned any of the storylines taking place (i invent as i go, or i get too bored, and lose all motivation to keep writing)

i guess it depends on each person. my dads wife is still reading the 1st one, to check for glaring inconsistencies and stuff, so far shes pleased. my dad on the other hand, begun complaining after the very first page "where are the children?" "what children dad? theyre in a space command ship. at war."

i added kids for him, in the 2nd book. child soldiers :]

Congrats ZEGH8578!

I would break your book up into a trilogy. It much easier to get into a 340 page book instead of a 1000 page book.

Self-publish them as e-Books. Or try to get them placed on Amazon's Kindle market.

Lastly visit www.deviantart.com and commission an artist, or two, to create cover art from each book. Most of them will do it for about $50 in full color. Some might even do it for less if they enjoy the project or source material. :)

theyre allready split up into 3 books. im writing a 4th, and CONSIDERING a 5th, but we'll see.
i did settle for 4 books allready

and as for cover art, check the top stickied thread here, i allready do art ;)
<---my awesome avatar for instance 8)
i got a deviantart account, but im not going to depict any of the characters. i want to avoid visual descriptions as much as possible, and only provide guidelines for the reader to build from

there is one concept drawing there
http://zegh8578.deviantart.com/art/E4-C ... e-13707698
this idea was part of my earlyer attempts at getting to writing the book, but it failed twice. i eventually never used this idea w the construction base etc. they were supposed to stop the building of a new "mothership", instead i let the mothership come out finished, ready for action, and even let it win in the first book. its a suicide-vessel, so it wins by smashing itself into a planet.

otherwise i did a lot of pencil drawings of the characters, and various situations, aliens and weapons, but as i said, i dont wanna show the reader how i imagine stuff. i want the reader to imagine her/him self

i sometimes, not often, do concept art, mostly just to know what im talking about, and to keep consistency.
Image
the only gun-details i did, and i didnt even describe these in the text, just mention them as "compact-rifles" or "service-pistols"
