Yes,it is rare,I would assume particularly rare for Aspies.The men who could benefit the most from the role reversal[women asking men out] would be socially awkward men[i.e. men with AS].However I would speculate that socially awkward men get asked out the least .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been told it tends to be a big thing with American girls to follow rules like that and that its a little more relaxed in other places (again I admit my ignorance, this is just what I heard.)

You can't really blame em' though, seeing how American women are told to rely on men for everything these days. It doesn't make them any dumber than the men who have to buy guns and football gear to feel efficient, but that's probably why most American women don't ask men out. That's what separates aspies from the rest of the world. We always say "why not" when most people say "okay".

And then they try to do studies on why people with aspergers get so depressed? I'm sure if you asked most male aspies why they hate their life, they would probably say "women" or maybe that's just me.

I don't know what women your meeting, more and more I see women living on their own, saying "f**k the BS" and going single.

I see women from all political spectra choosing independence over bs relationships.

To the OP, yes women can do it but they don't. :(

it seems like for the most part, all girls have to do is just exist in order to get a boyfriend, attract a guy, but guys have to make themselves stand out

I had a woman contact me first after I simply viewed her profile on a dating site. And it led to a wonderful 3-month relationship (with her making all the first moves). She knew I was shy and never had a gf before. Didn't work out because of her physical limitations, but we're still best online friends. I wish more women were like that! So it can and DOES work.

I don't think that many socially awkward guys would get asked out even if the dating was more liberal & women asked out guys as much as guys asked women out because women tend to not be attracted to socially awkward guys

yeah, nobody ever said life would be fair, so that means dating and relationships are not fair either, but they seem more fair for women

If the woman doesn't initiate the relationship, the guy will just bang her til the cows come home.

As a female I think both genders should be equally involved in asking out potential partners. However, my last relationship where I was the one asking them out (as opposed to one of those situations where you flirt with each other a lot and then somehow end up dating) turned into a rather traumatizing experience to say the least, so I have been hesitant to ask out potential partners. The last guy I asked out (online, because I wouldn't be able to "bump into him" for a little while) ended up with him ignoring it. In the meantime I'm looking elsewhere and if someone I'm interested in shows interest but doesn't actually ask me out - I may ask them out. Although if that guy still shows interest I may try again in person, online is too prone to error.
