No kidding on our society we live in. Hey, shouldn't we have a right to love and date anybody we want? I mean, I'd like to date a celeb. But are they an exception? Why shouldn't a normal man have a right to date a hot celeb, no matter how narrow or superficial it is. And if it is that way, than that's a person's problem, not societies.

Oh, I apologize for not reading behind the headline, but it got me thinking. What do you think about normal vs. celebrity dating? Do you think normal people should be entitled to date celebrities? What's up with our society?

Need to know more before I judge. Was this guy creeping on her? (Following her around, sending multiple messages, harassing her). Was the guy autistic? Not sure what I'm suppose to be seeing..

But my issue has nothing to do with stalking. I don't encourage this type of behavior. But if she only dates others in her group, doesn't that violate one of the ideas our nation was founded on? That we should love whomever we want and date whomever we want without being restricted? There are some good exceptions, but something needs to be done. But how?

Huh? Celebrities date each other because they understand the pressures of fame that us normal folk just can't. It's like dating someone who can never really understand Asperger's, only times ten.

No, I feel very strong about this as an issue in society today.

I read the word entitled in the original post twice...

This may be an event that most people will forget about tomorrow.

All I know in my Christian faith is that I am not entitled to anything. I don't even own anything either, but I do have things in my posession. The truth as I have realized is that anything can be given to me at any time. I also realize that anything can be taken at any time as well.

I think it's very wrong for someone to threaten & scare anyone like that & think the judge should of had him get a psychiatric assessment & help. She deserves the rite to date who ever she wants as long as that person is willing & treats her well & the same goes for every person. I've had a bad crush obsession with a celeb/idol & would of given most anything for a chance to be with her but I was fully aware(at times very emotionally painfully aware) that I was not in a relationship with her or knew her personally or chatted with her or anything. I cant imagine being threatening like that guy; I'm very protective of everyone I loved & I still feel that way about her & my exes despite loving my girlfriend & no longer crushing or obsessing about them; the only way I could be a threat is to someone for seriously harming them.

Yes, famous people can date non-famous people. I'm sure it happens all the time. There is no prohibition against this. You can date a famous person. One rule is exactly as it is with non-famous people, which is that they have to want to date you.

The problematic element in the story is not some obscure social rule, but that the guy has a delusional belief that he is married to Taylor Swift. Even if no threat is made, this will be perceived by Taylor Swift as creepy. That one could come to the attention of delusional people, is one of the curses of fame.

you don't have the RIGHT to date anyone--you have the opportunity to date someone, IF that person wants to date you back. the way you've worded the OP makes it sound like you think you should have the right to date celebrities even if celebrities don't want to be dated by you.

if that is the case, that is messed up--and i mean seriously messed up. like as in "please talk to someone (ie. a professional therapist) before you become an active danger to women" kinda messed up.

:(

I am constantly terrified of doing this to my footy player. No one has the right to make someone else feel unsafe.

Celebs date each other because they get around in the same circles.

Quote:
A man accused of saying he is married to Taylor Swift and threatening to harm her family

Quote:
Court filings by Swift state that Sweet has sent messages threatening to harm the entertainer's family or anyone who interferes with his perceived relationship with her. The singer wrote in a sworn declaration that she fears for her safety in public and at home.

Quote:
"Dearest Taylor, I'll kill any man who gets in the way of our marriage," one of the messages stated, according to the filing.

The guy's a damn stalker, and it's not just Taylor Swift that who would get a restraining order against him. The majority of females on the planet would.

Is there something wrong with you, OP, do you think this man got an unfair reaction? Because if so.. I'm actually scared of you. Scared that someone could be so warped.

The guy contacting Taylor Swift clearly has problems.

But celebs sometimes do date non-celebs.

She's a country singer, also known for jumping from guy to guy.
