But she probably wouldn't be referring to your looks, much more likely your behaviour like if you did something chivalrous, or helped your Mum or looked baffled when she did something girly.
A creepy, scary, or selfish guy would never be referred to as cute.

On a totally irrelevant point 'BEHAVIOUR!' My spelling is bad enough already without spellcheck trying to send me in the wrong direction.

Personally I don't like being called cute because -for me- it's usually when I've messed up and not understood something correctly in conversation, like if a girl was trying to flirt with me and I've not picked up on it at all, that's when I normally get the 'aww your cute' line which as far as I'm concerned means they think I'm immature from a relationship standpoint and they think I'm cute because I'm emotionally inferior to other men...

Oh, I know that feeling. When I miss flirting, I'm told I'm a nice girl with a sort of pitying look, but that's not from the flirter that's from someone else when they ask me why I didn't respond to someone's flirting. That's usually the point at which I find out there was flirting going on, after the flirter has given up and is annoyed with me.

I accepted a present of a pineapple from a male work college once, (I had made him and everyone else lots of coffees) when he tried to get off with me and I was shocked, everyone was 'but you accepted the pineapple' As if in doing so I had agreed to sex.

I've never been called cute by anyone. I think women use the word a lot more than men.

I doubt they thought you were emotionally inferior, more likely, not very worldly. I know that's not very good from your perspective either, sorry. I wish people would warn me before they start flirting, that would really help. :) and the a couple of weeks to get used to the idea :) and then a couple of hours between comments for me to consider my responses :D

Pineapple? Whatever happened to flowers?

Obviously there's stuff I don't know about the language of love 8O

He had another job, delivering exotic fruit and that's where it came from, he didn't buy it. To me it was just a pineapple but I found out latter that they cost about £10 in the shops. If I'd known it was such a posh pineapple I might have been a bit more aware :? I would have known something was up if he'd bought me flowers.

Aaaah. The hunter bringing you a trophy. Much like when your cat leaves you a dead rat on the doormat - same sentiment. I guess he didn't give fruit to the other ladies. Oh, Gawd, the symbolism!

He he, now I'm picturing him as a cat.
The other ladies didn't make the coffees. Also I had thought he was a nice safe guy because he talked so much about how much he loved his wife and baby. All very confusing.

You need to look out for guys like that. Some of the worst people pretend to be nice family guys to seem 'safe'.

On several occasions, I've met guys at work who although they're not so sneaky about it, tend to handle the baby and toddler years badly because they get less attention from their wives, who are naturally exhausted and focused on the children. If they're really self-centred, they'll convince themselves they 'deserve' to have an affair.

This one didn't even get his pineapple back because by the time someone had explained the expectations, I'd already eaten it. :D
It really was a delicious pineapple, I'm glad I got to enjoy it in blissful ignorance :D

I can't imagine being interested in a man that I didn't think was cute.

I'm 56. I'd rather be called "cute" than "plug-ugly."

I could see how it can be taken as condescending to be called cute when you're a grown man. But I also don't care too much about people looking down on me in anyway and if I get called cute I'll just take it as a compliment and leave it at that

The few times I have been called cute by women were times I wondered exactly how much alcohol was in their systems for them to reach that conclusion. Unfortunately, I have a natural aversion to wanting to be around drunk people in general. It does not matter what the women look like, if they are drunk, I will leave the area as soon as they attempt to interact with me.

So what's the difference between cute and handsome/sexy?

Cute means less robust or less Adonis/action-hero looking?
