I prefer women who are apolitical.

why?

People who take no interest, don't interest me. I can understand disinterest in party politics though.

I have got that though the "I don't do politics". However chances are they have some political opinions.

I'd really like someone willing to debate, rather than just letting me state my views, stating hers and then stopping there because addressing the other person's points, looking for a deeper understanding, is offensive. If two people disagree, either they have conflicting principles or at least one of them is making an incorrect deduction. It'd be nice to find the root of the disagreement, but people normally get really pissed off if you try to, doing everything to prevent it by muddying the discussion more and more.

Of course, I'm aware this is but a wet dream, comparable to finding a woman willing to share the rest of her life with me in the first place.

I enjoy a good debate, but you do sometimes get to a point where you have to agree to disagree.

No one is 100% neutral in politics, no one.

My girlfriend and I commonly uses terms like "micro-thinker" and "macro-thinker", with her being a "micro-thinker" and me being a "macro-thinker".

A "macro-thinker" is someone who looks at the world through abstract philosophy; through scientific models; through the pure looking glass of mathematics.

A "micro-thinker" is someone who looks at the world through direct inter-personal contact with one's direct environment.

Politics, religion and philosophy are all too "macro" for her taste, even though she is a PhD level bio-scientist.

I used to think that myself. Then I met my girlfriend

That sounds more like an inter-personal thinker.

I'm hyper-analytical, so I'm interested in detail as much as the bigger picture. Not great at inter-personal though.

It's a term I never heard or read before, but it seems to fit the load perfectly.

That's what I'm like as well.

In my experience, hyper-analytical thinkers and extremely inter-personal thinkers can along quite well... due to being each other's complement... and due to both being intense / extreme in their own peculiar fashion...

I'm happy to disagree. I'm more interested in their ideas, and thought process.

Would you date someone of a different political background? If so how different. What would be your limit?

I wonder if people who grown up in families who have been traditional block voters, and they hadn't changed later, if they could contemplate 'sleeping with the enemy' so to speak.

Personally I would consider anyone. However what matters is what thoughts of their own they have put into it, and if there are some independent ideas.

I'm wary of political tribalism itself, I find personal and political independence very attractive.

Obviously there would still be some moral tests. You would assume that we may hold some of the same objectives, just a different theory of how to get there.

I wonder how normal this view is thought. There is a stigma associated with dating outside party affiliation, at least for some.

My political beliefs are fairly unique and I'll always be at odds with virtually any random person. So if I had to have political unity, I would never find a mate.

I've dated right wingers (for USA, that means democrats).
It doesn't matter too much, as long as they are intelligent.
It can sometimes become a bit boring if both agrees on everything.
That said, if I could chose who to fall in love with, I'd chose a leftist/anarchist.

100% wouldn't date a Tory. Don't think I'm generally very prejudiced but definitely in this case.

With all due respect, you are all noobs when it comes to Tribalism.

I would certainly not date a Hezbollah or Muslim Brotherhood member or sympathizer; or anything rad Islamist.

Btw the thread is older than dinosaurs.
