I am proof that it IS possible for Autistic people to defy all statistics when it comes to finding a partner!! !

It's not easy but it's definitely possible if you are willing to put out the hard work and put your blood, sweat & tears into it!

definetley more true for men than for women, but yeah over the years, i've noticed that men on the autism spectrum have a high rate of reaching 30+ or older and have never been in a relationship before.

Yeah what adds fuel to fire in terms of resentment, is when i hear of stories of people, especially guys, men, who did not get into their first relationship until later than the societal norm, for example, i've heard of some stories of guys, men, who never had a girlfriend until their early 40s.

I have mixed emotions on stories like that, a part of me is glad they found someone, but at the same time, its depressing and resentful to think about, because its a reminder that not everyone gets to date and have relationships in their young youthful years, around the typical societal timeline.

Yes its a reminder that, obviously life and reality isn't fair at all, it can be very cruel and mean often times.

I hope it's becoming more acknowledged in society and how it can hit both genders men and women alike in different ways (non-binary on more masculine or feminine sides also apply).

This is why I decided that I want to meet someone through mutual connection instead. I'm tired of being an online dating loser.

Got a ladies number last night in London

She chatted to me on WhatsApp today but the moment I mentioned I volunteer for cancer research and don’t have a proper job she didn’t respond back/stopped texting me

She’s 25 by the way

I am sorry to hear about your nonexistent romantic life. I’m a few years younger than you but I’m in the same boat as you. The results of this is that I have developed negative feelings and emotions regarding a lot of things. Something I believe would have never happened had I gotten any amount of positive reinforcement at all. But it just never came.

Well put. It's better than starting a relationship & then your partner starts resenting you & b!tching at you a lot about you being unemployed or not earning enough. Very luckily I never experienced that but I've known a bit of disabled guys who have. I've had a lot of women online quit chatting with me once they found out I was disabled. Some women who are disabled have been a lot more understanding & sympathetic about this. Part of the problem is probably that lots of non-disabled people can not relate to being disabled, especially in areas where the politicians & media make disabled people out to lazy leeches & when the disabilities are mental or not imminently noticeable physical disabilities. Plus in the US women tend to get paid less than men & lots of employers do not offer paid family & medical leave so some women worry they'll have to work extra to support a disabled guy & that the woman could risk losing her job & health insurance she has through her job if she gets pregnant & needs to take maternity leave. It would majorly s#ck for her & her family if she was the primary financial earner.
