I don't know anybody close to my age well enough to understand their relationships. The only idea about a relationship I have comes form TV dramas (and I don't watch much), which I know is fake. Can anyone explain to me exactly how is a real relationship different?

Real real relationships vs. Hollywood relationships: Less passion. Less drama. More insecurity.

Real Hollywood relationships vs. Hollywood relationships: More passion. More drama. Even MORE insecurity...and lots of divorces.

What was it that Donkey from Shreck said: "Celebrity marriages, they never last."

I think lots of real relationships nowadays are like Hollywood relationships. Lots of people are really shallow, stuck-up, superficial ect & they are all trying to find the perfect person but instead they end up with some loser who lies & has lots of problems & then they get divorced & have nasty battles in court. That Donkey on Shrek was rite but most marriages fail nowadays; It's not just celebrities over 50% of marriages end in divorce. The difference between a real relationship & a Hollywood relationship is that the Hollywood relationship is in the media & the real relationship is not

True, totally true. Let's start raising our kids better than the last generation.

I don't care about real Hollywood relationships, and I don't know any detail about them beyond X dumps Y and turn to Z. I don't think that is what sane people do.

Can we turn our focus to real, 'ordinary' relations? Are they equally silly?

In my eyes, they aren't different at all.

Real relationships are built on money and status
More than anyone will ever like to admit.

Can you be more specific? I don't know what people do and think in a relation.

Everything the Hollywood stars say is the result of carefully planned PR work. So I don't think that reflects anything.

Real relationships are different from on-screen relationships in that they exist 24x7. Movies and TV shows only show scenes relevant to the story and they skip the things that aren't. Real relationships don't work that way - every moment in time could be important to the survival of the relationship - you just don't know until afterward.

I would take the "all relationships suck" type of comments with a grain of salt. Some of us have found good, long-term relationships that don't fit their "sucky" stereotypes. You just have to realize that it takes more effort than talking to a person for 30 seconds.

So when a celeb is caught drinking & trash-talking their partner; it's a PR stunt :?:

Real relationships are as varied as the people in them. There are basic prototypes that can be identified, but they are still unique unless the people in them fall into stereotypes.

The most important thing is communication.

Aw, sorry you're lonely and depressed. I just posted that clip because I think it is sweet, and it reminds me of my interactions with my fiancee.
