How come adult virgins are considered "losers"?

I guess because they haven't followed the biological prime directive: reproduce.
Beyond that, got me.

I'm just waiting for drzava to find this thread.

It's an NT thing. They attach great importance and value to the most trivial things. They go around telling each other that sex is some magic potion that is the end all and be all of life. Very sad. I've missed the 'let's have sex' signal a couple of times, and the girls thought I musy be a "FAG". If two people don't care about one another, trust one another, and communicate honestly, sex won't help the relationship ! !!

OK, it's like cake frosting. Do you scrape the frosting off the cake and go yummy!! !??? The cake is there to enjoy WITH the frosting. Do you make a bowl of frosting and eat it? You make a cake, and put frosting on it, right??? I SAID< AM I RIGHT ??????????????????

I agree it seems alot of people like to have sex for the sake of having sex. I see sex as a very intimate act and should only be done between people you trust and care about. When you get the close to someone it makes you vulnerable both physically and emotionially.

I do not think this thread is about whether aspies have sex or not but why sex is such an important part of our society.

I think it has to do with the timing idea. All persons are expected to perform certain rights of passage at certain times. You will hear quite a few arguments about abstinance but I think the argument is moot because I think most teens do have intercourse if not while they are in HS, then in college. Society also dictates that for the most part, you should get married by the time you are 30 at the absolute latest.

Most aspies however do not follow the norms dictated by society, especially those norms which involve social skills (as dating does). We therefore do not get married until later in life (if at all) and as such, are looked down upon again because we are not following what society considers the normal path.

You also have to remember that society has changed this path throughout the lifespan of human existance. In Victorian Society, boys were taken by their fathers to prostitutes for sex education while women were given no information until their wedding night. In US Colonial times, It would not be suprising for a male of 15 and a female of 13 or 14 to get married if they were ready. In fact, due to the shorter life span, it was a good idea.

Well, since the survival of the species depends entirely on it, I think it deserves the first priority on any society.

Yes, but society is very concerned with sex that doesn't have the purpose of reproduction. Sex that's just for fun and bragging rights.

I agree that society places too much importance on sex by itself, and little, if any emphasis on love and trust. You hardly ever hear of anyone raving about marriages that have lasted for years, which are based upon mutual love, trust, admiration, and respect. What most people do rave about is the objectifying of people as objects of sexual gratification, ie; movie stars, etc. Guys leer and drool over whatever they consider to be attractive, and girls call guys "hotties." I guess I find this a put off because it seems to lead nowhere meaningful. I was often accused of being "old-fashioned," or "cold," because I couldn't tell when others were flirting or propositioning me in a non-verbal way.

Men don't leer and drool over attractive women and women don't talk about 'hotties' because society places undue importance on sex. They do that because that's how they are. Men are men, women are women, and each wants to do the living daylights out of the other as much as possible, before they eventually expire.

Well said. It's simply natural to want to have sex.

As to whether or not virginity makes an adult a loser or not... well since virtually everyone does want to have sex, at least with someone special, if you haven't had it you are under achieving in a way. That doesn't make you a loser though, any more than failing at anything else does. Being competative about sex is what makes you a loser.

I'd say competitiveness is in our nature too.
