When to ask a girl out?

When do you ask a girl out, especially if one is busy and one does not see the girl often, occasionally, or one cannot find the time to be together without other people?

Walk up to her whenever and ask her out for a cup of coffee.

It doesn't have to be a big fancy dinner. Take her to Starbucks. The important material is the discussion and how you present yourself to her.

Dracula's right -- take her out for a drink, doesn't matter what kind -- coffee, smoothie, slurpee -- and just have a conversation where the two of you are comfortable and can find things that you have in common.

When to ask her out? When you feel the time is right. Keep it simple. Life will make it more complex on it' own.

Maybe ask her to a movie something like that , you know something can just be considered hanging out or dating , if it works when you're friends it should also work later as a date. To see if she's interested tell her something like "yeah we should totally see a movie or something sometime" , she'll respond " yeah good idea!" or something like that.

If you actually try to set a time with her for that kind of thing, though, and she keeps saying she's busy, she's probably trying to reject you without actually rejecting you (known in some circles as the cold shoulder)...

A movie is a couple of steps beyond going to buy a drink around the corner, I'd do the latter first.

How long to know?

It helps to know someone as a friend first, but this is not necessary. If she tells you off leave, because you will look like a stalker if you stay. Obviously if she tells you off she isn't into you. If it works stay persistent and make sure she knows your intentions.
