My wife has a friend. This friend has dropped out of university several times. She has never held a steady job. All her jobs were minimal wage more fun hobby than a real job. Yet she had no problem spending her husbands money on travels and expensive art books. After they've divorced (because of course they have divorced), she had a brief period of depression because she had no way of sustaining her lifestyle. But then she found another guy and now she's living the same life. She is about 25 or 26 now, jobless, thinks about applying for the university next autumn and travelling to nearby cities every weekend.

Is she immature or very smart and successful? What do you think? Both perhaps?

Immature and a freeloader in my opinion.

I think the desire for an ambitious partner can work both ways. Yes there are women who want an ambitious boyfriend. There are also men such as myself who want an ambitious girlfriend.

The same standards those girls apply to guys, I apply to girls. As hale_bopp said, if someone has no ambition, they're boring.

It's not just about money. It's not just about career. If a man or woman is not committed enough to have / be getting a career, this lack of commitment may also be reflected in other aspects of their life.

I want a girl who is / will be middle class like I am, not because I want her to give me money but so I don't have to support her. This way we can both live a middle class lifestyle together while both paying an equal share of living expenses.

At the moment I'm dating an unemployed girl and she has a lot of ambition. She's in the second year of her master's in finance and soon she will be a career woman.

She's playful and young at heart but she's very mature about her commitments. She always tries her best not only in her studies but in every aspect of her life.

Fingers crossed that she won't become more successful that you. That could grow into an issue. Although, to be honest, man's ambitions can become an issue in a relationship regardless. For example, I remember when by best friend's wife was complaining how her husband is only making a bit more than the average pay for his job. It didn't matter that she was unemployed at that time.

Their wealth is in their investments, not in their car. They don't need to impress anyone.

Is that why they buy billion dollar yachts? So they can look like regular people. And mansions that could house hundreds of people.no the wealthy rich elite wast money worse then anyone.

Lack of ambition doesn’t mean boring. I’m not boring.
But I get it yiu think I’m a loser and should die. I get it you reached lower middle clsss andnso look down on me. Let’s hope your company doesn’t go under casting you back down into th poor class.

As for your gf. Degree doesn’t equal job. She may get all A’s graduat with honors(I did) doesn’t mean she’ll find s good job, or any job, she might end up working retail or food service. There’s people with phds working at fast food jobs. Bet they thought their 8+ years would land them a good job too. Millions of people in the USA every year graduate only to not find work in their field. A lot of times there’s too many people then that field can employ.
A friends friend did energy management well here’s like 50 jobs in our state for that and hundreds of students graduating in that field of study every year. Math doesn’t look good.

Don’t wish I’ll on yiu but I might not be sadden either. Getting tired of you looking down on me now while year ago you were same place as me. But this is how you find out people’s true selfs.

People with no ambition aren’t necessarily boring. I just said I would get bored in a relationship because I have a male like brain who loves tinkering with ways to achieve more in life. It’s ultimately my favourite hobby after gaming so I don’t see dating someone who isn’t interested as something that would work out.

Exactly! Tinkering with ways to achieve more in life, both at work and outside of work. That's a good way of putting it.

Remember I also have a male brain.

An NT spends 5 mins, if that, writing a profile on a dating sight then forgets about it two miniuts later.
We spend days analysing and debating that profile depressing ourselves and each other, conclusion? well which ever one we come to you can bet we will analyse it to death. :)

 I think you may have just perfectly summed me up. I constantly look back on my profile, thinking things like, "Is this grammatically correct?" or "Am I being funny and sarcastic here, or am I coming across as just plain mean?".

I also examine the profiles of every dude who messages me before I write back. If I see something that I consider to be a complete dealbreaker in their profiles or answered questions (ex: they're homophobic, racist, they smoke cigarettes...), then I just don't reply to them.

Edit: As I was writing this post, I got another message that was also a good example. This person has a high match percentage with me and he seems like a very nice guy... However, he is also very religious. I don't think that logically would work at all because I'm agnostic. I do hope he is able to find a nice girl who shares the same faith as himself, though.

That's true. Sometimes I'll read a girl's profile and think it's pretty good then and I'll spend a long thinking of a message to send her that appeals to her interests and then I'll notice that she hasn't logged onto the dating site for 6 months.
She's probably never coming back.

Those are just averages I pulled out of my a55.

I said thousands a FORTNIGHT.

Well...the average person IS overweight.

An obese father and overweight mother and three chubby teens would certainly spend at least 500-1,000.

My normal weight family spend $500 a fortnight on food, I can't imagine how much a fatter family would spend.

Plenty of families potenially do spend that much on gifts.

The Xbox One was and still is $500 not including the controllers or Xbox Live subscription. One game is 50-120 these days. Probably $800-1,000 total for the Xbox One, controllers, one or two games and a 6 month Xbox live subscriton (which is a few hundred) ,

There are videos on faceboolFacebook right now of girls i knew in high school being given brand new cars by their parents.

This is what me and Sly and Retrogamer are talking about.

You argue these people are an entitled minority but it is possible they're not anymore.

A lot of girls my age I've met have everything given to them, parents paying for their $4,000 Euro trip, givng.them brand new cars, paying for their university studies, etc.

They accept this as.normal since if their middle class parents could do it they must believe that's what middle class "should", be able to afford.

Little do they know their parents were in massive debt and living paycheck to paycheck.

Brand new I phones are like $800 aren't they?

3 kids = $2,400 right there.

Hale_Bopp, welcome to Middle Class Australia.
