LDR isn't out of the question but I don't think I'd use a dating site for that. I'm not sure why that is, maybe because I presume the purpose of using a dating site is to meet someone physically and make an assessment from there.

sounds like a sensible plan. Hope you make things work out for you. And it's the early days yet with the dating site. Coming up to New Years when people still haven't found anyone, I expect you'll be able to take your pick.

[umm. hope that didn't sound heartless!]

Heartless, you? Never! :P

Cold winter weather might help, too. Cheap way of heating the bed.

On principle, I cannot agree with anything in the said Belfast rag.

I quote from the article:

However, Greg Hodge, who runs the website, believes both Ulster and Irish fellas could shoot up the rankings if they smartened themselves up and made more effort with their appearance. He said: “I think men from the whole island have let themselves down bythe profile pictures they've beenuploading.

“Often it's a photo of them inside the pub with a pint in their hand, whereas a Brazilian man will go to great efforts and make sure he looks tanned and toned and probably has a beach as a backdrop.

“So I really believe if men, both Northern Irish and from the Republic, made more effort to look good in their photos and weren't so relaxed about it, they'd have far more success.

“But I'd stress they shouldn't feel too disheartened by this. If there were rankings for charm, humour and accent, they'd be top of the list.”

Too effing right, mr Hugear$e Hodge. What dating website does he run, I wonder? Hmmm.

Too soon?!?

yeah but ya's still too pasty ;)

Sorry, I don't wish to derail yet another thread - hilarious memes nothwithstanding

but I thought it could be a handy segue into what our young friend here finds attractive, visually speaking and if he has managed to get better quality photos of himself uploaded yet?

I really don't want to make excuses, but basically.....
No one ever gives me pictures of myself unless they are really bad, in some cases when I even ask family for pics the conversation is simply ignored and the subject is changed. The good photos are never given to me, tagged, and family never give me family pics either. This has been the case since I turned about 20 and it's very frustrating because I have to rely on self shots which are normally in poor lighting, with a rubbish camera and in an unflattering space like a bedroom or bathroom. The most recent pic I have is one where I look a lot shorter than I really am because some tall guy decided to point the camera down at me in public. He took a different shot which was better but then didn't give it to me. Is there something I'm doing to people to make them want to put me in a bad image?

I could maybe *try* to take a better self shot, or "weird out" people by asking they take a decent photo of me because none exist post 2006, but the last time I did that people did that thing they do when they pretend they think what you said is weird just so you back down.

It's the tatties, I tells ya.

Yes yes, you're right. Back to the matter in hand.

January - find a photography student, they'll charge you a low rate for a photograph. I'm sure that being a professional you could do with one anyway. It'll look good, but not too forced (and of course with no pint in your hand, lol)

I'm sure they'll be some advertising in your area on Gumtree, or something.

There is a conspiracy. For sure. It's probably lizard related. :P :P

If you have a hand held camera it will have a timer, If you just have your phone, download an app which will have a timer then set up a timed shot somewhere outside. Set it up yourself and just get a friend or even a stranger to hold the phone. Actually, find a cute girl and ask her if she could please take a photo of you for your OKC profile, get her to suggest what kind of photo it should be ;)

Everyone will be at work on Thursday and I have that day off, I could maybe download an app with a timer on it and take some pics in the living room.
Thanks for the suggestion :)

Well, what does it look like? Seriously? Come on man! If you've the wherewithal to put your profile on here, you've got the guts to assertively get anything done.

The point was I've had lots of pics taken this year, and previous years but anything remotely good never gets shared with me no matter how much I persist.
So yes I have the guts, I'm just saying it's difficult to get a normal picture of me. I will try Thursday though. Best I can do for now :)

Yeah so many times it doesnt really depend on you.

I have more than a couple decent shots of me around people right now but thats only because the people I hang out with are obsessed with taking pictures.
Just for ourselves(90% of them wont ever be public on fb but we know that they are there in our secret group)

Ok after a bit of badgering, I managed to get some pics my sister had archived.
They are approx 1-2 years old, the one of me on the couch is kind of my build atm so it's not inaccurate from what people will see in person except for the hairdo.
Should I include these in my profile or not?

I was getting attention from girls on okc (replies, initiative messages)when I was using my experimental poor lighted self shot bedroom pic more than with the casual outdoor pool pic I am using today. Of course, crazy girls too as side effect.

Just saying.

aww. that doggie is certainly enjoying the cuddles.

I'm not sure I would include these tbh, sweet as they are, bc in the snowman pic, your friend is a but cuter than you (sorry!) so that's no good and the one with the dog while adorable is just a bit too relaxed for a date profile imho, but I am an old prude to be fair, so hopefully others will chime in soon

If you had been looking at the camera, that dog pic would have been awesome. Might be worth putting that one up. There's something a little bit different about that picture I like.

Actually, the more I see it, the more I like it. You look cool, friendly, approachable...relaxed. Best picture of you to date.
