Eligible Odd-Bods! - The Premier Aspergian Singles List
@Island. You look extremely cute!
I asked earlier if you had a profile since you put pics in this thread. Pics are not enough! Tell us about your interests, activities or anything you feel comfortable sharing.
A personal story:
I've met an aspie female online after seeing her myspace profile, turned out she lived in Austin TX like me. I met up with her in public and we hung out a few times and went places, but it turns out we didn't "click" romantically. . So we're just friends now, and that's still really cool though. By the way she was gorgeous but also quirky which is not always bad, aspies tend to be like so anywho.
Just thought I'd share.
I wrote a profile a couple of days ago, minimized the screen, and it disappeared. So I got a little pissed off and said screw it.
Anyway, so here it is.
Height: 5'4 1/2" (yes, the half is important to me)
Weight: 128
Hair color: brown
Eye color: brown
Favorite food: macaroni and cheese
Favorite color: black or blue. but i really like grey too!
Favorite musician/s: Beatles, Kate Bush, Elton John
Obsessions: Those musicians, 80s and early 90s Nickelodeon shows, Disney movies, Twilight, cats, James Stewart, Monty Python, and many others.
Turn-ons: Dark hair, kindness, nerdiness, sexiness (aspie men are generally pretty sexy to me), goofy sense of humor
Turn-offs: misogyny, ARROGANCE, ridiculousness, drama, anime, no sense of tact (a little problem I've noticed with some aspie guys...yuck!)
I've dated a little in my life and have found that it is extremely hard for me to feel some strong connection with anyone. However, I did once, and he was also an aspie. I guess I just need me one of those. I stress kindness in my turn-ons. I've looked at a lot of posters' past posts and it's disappointing to see how mean some people are. I'm really just looking for a nice guy.

Shut up! I'm having a rhetorical conversation.
I understand we understand each other.

Being a nice guy has not gotten me very many chicks, girls always think I am nice/smile alot because I like them when really I just like simple kindness as I am not a small talker. Of course I smile when I like a girl so women really never know when I am actually hitting on them unless I tell them.

I've always been horribly cynical about personal ads, but recently learned that a very cool couple I'm friends with met through such means. So in spite of cynical-me cruelly mocking brainiac-scifi-hippy-chick-seeks-brainiac-scifi-hippy-dude-me while I write this...
Brainiac, scifi, neo-hippy chick. Liberal tree hugger.
Pagan/Wiccan/Rational Empiricist/Pastafarian.
Snarky, sarcastic, dry-humor. Human society is mostly there to be made fun of.
Smoking has got to be the single most nauseating habit humanity has ever devised, serving no purpose other than to make a person age faster, stink, and rudely poison other people's air.
Drinking: Not opposed to it but very, very rarely drink myself. Beer is an acquired taste I never acquired. I'm more fruity-umbrella drinks that cost way too much money and make me act like an idiot in front of my NT friends. Hence, the 'very rarely' bit. But I have discovered that half a glass of wine makes me better at calculus.
To NT's; a sci-fi geek. But this is an Aspie forum, so I'm probably well within the normal range.
I'll brush my hair and make sure my clothes are clean before going out in public, but a fashion diva I am so not. Never understood the point of makeup. Why make myself look like something else, only to have my date discover what I 'really' look like when I wake up in the morning? I suspect that is the true source of the one night stand.
My Sirius satellite radio is almost always tuned to Classic Vinyl or Classic Rewind. Sometimes 1st Wave. If I'm meditating; Celtic or Native American influenced music. If I've been forced against my will to listen to classical or country at work; there is not enough Rob Zombie to cleanse my eardrums.
Occupation(s): IT handyperson, Park Ranger, Tour Guide, A/V Tech, most anything in those general categories where I can find work. It's taken me way too long (like, until my unofficial Aspie dx 2 years ago) to figure out that as much as I'd like a living wage and a 401k, work environment and enjoyment of what I'm doing mean far more to me and my overall health. Also in the course of the which-jobs-work-and-which-don't assessment, I found the jobs I thrive in are seasonal and contract work. Ergo, the many current job titles, and ergo...
Home: A 20' class C motorhome. It's a 1975, and thus in dire need of a disco ball. I bought it for $1500, meaning it's a major work in progress. But it's been wonderfully liberating! Moving involves little more than firing up the engine and when I arrive at the new town my 'house' is still there and still intact. No longer am I tied to job-searching within commuting distance of wherever I live. It's like camping, only all the time instead of just a weekend!
A Great Lakes/Motor City woman, I've fallen in love with the Rocky Mountains and the Desert Southwest. I worked last Summer at Lake Powell (Arizona/Utah), am currently working at Taos Ski Valley (New Mexico), and hope to go back to Lake Powell next Summer. Or if not, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, or most anywhere in between. So 'home' is wherever I'm parked, which as of today is next to the Resort's Vehicle Maintenance Facility, praying to the car-repair deities that Charlie the mechanic will discover all I need to get my leviathan in gear again is a new transmission filter and fluid flush.
My other car is a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 (see pic). Going on 6 years old; about 140,000 miles and still going strong thanks to a good mechanic who's helped me become fairly self-sufficient at my own repairs and tune-ups. I'm surprised however at how many guys are intimidated by a woman who isn't relegated to the passenger seat and can reverse engineer the ignition switch.
When I'm not working or tinkering with motorcycle engines or home improvement, I'm watching a film or the tube - again mostly sci-fi, though I'm a sucker for a good musical. I like to hike, camp, and engage in other related outdoorsy activities, though I don't get out nearly as much as I should. Probably for lack of someone to go with? As I now work at a ski resort, I'm dying to learn to ski once the busy holiday season is over. Already own my own crutches, so I'm all set to go. If I end up at Lake Powell again next Summer, I'm so buying a kayak.
A few years ago in college, discovered a love and talent for writing that I never knew I had. Nothing published yet, but currently working on a few projects, plus learning that writing is a fantastic outlet all around. Come to learn sometime after the fact that we Aspies often communicate far better via written word than spoken. So true with me!
Farscape, Buffy and Angel are the TV shows which all others dream of approaching in awesomeness. Heroes, True Blood and the new Battlestar Galactica achieve that dream. See above re; sucker for a good musical. My DVDs for Sweeney Todd, Mamma Mia and Across the Universe are getting an awful lot of play these days. I've spent a lifetime wondering why we all can't just spontaneously break into song and dance. Possibly because I can't sing or dance?
My RV is currently shared with 3 snakes and 2 cats.
If I had the money: I still would live in an RV, just in a far better state of repair. I would be in a constant state of in-school and traveling. If I had the money, my next degree would be in Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis on religion. The human animal; why it does what it does, believes what it believes. I want to be the guy on the History Channel at the dig site saying, "This is what we think a day in the life of this village would have been..."
Family tendencies: None. Never wanted kids and can't have them anymore anyway. Scooping out the cat box is all the maternal responsibility I want. As the youngest of 6 kids and the generation gap, I had my siblings' kids to occasionally dote on, torment, get addicted to shows and music their parents would surely hate...
Ever married? Not even close. My dating pool so far has been starving artists. Fun, interesting, very cool people, but less the stable-relationship type than the ooh-I-just-decided-I-was-Merlin-in-a-previous-life-I-have-to-go-off-in-the-forest-and-write-a-song-about-it type. Again, that's not a bad thing, just not a shocker that I've led the single life.
Age: 41. At least that's what the birth cert. says, but I'm skeptical. I really don't know how 30 happened, much less 40. I'm the one my 40-ish friends call upon to take their teenagers to the slasher movie or rock concert.
Whew! Did you make it through all that? Do you kinda/sorta relate? Being no supermodel myself I can't be too picky about looks, but I also can't say I'm turned on by the doesn't-take-care-of-myself/never-seen-a-vegetable/twinkies-and-beer physique.

God is just science that we don't understand yet.
It's been a while since I've posted anything at all on this site...probably over a year. Some things have changed, so maybe I should update here.
I'm a 24 year old male in Columbus, OH. I have brown hair and eyes, yet I have red in my beard. I have a mixture of Irish/German/Welsh facial features. Gay men and older women apparently have no issue telling me that I'm hot. I'm a textbook INTP personality, so of course I doubt myself when it comes to physical appearance.
I've had many past relationships, including one that lasted 2 years with a girl who I've found out recently may be an Aspie. I consider myself bisexual but I am not actively seeking any type of intimate relationship with a man.
I'm an Audio Engineer and musician, but live sound is what pays the bills. I do some recording and restoration and I'm working on a project of my own. I'm planning to go back to school at the local community college to study some sort of electronic engineering, english, or both.
I enjoy science fiction and fantasy and meander about Wikipedia on a regular/daily basis. I have a subscription to Weird Tales which I usually read when I'm bored at work. I also like most types of movies, but I've been on a Hayao Miyazaki kick recently. I played World of Warcraft too much until a few weeks ago, when I started having an issue with my network blocking it out for some reason.
I know religion is not a topic of polite conversation, but I've run the gamut and settled on one that is rather important to the way I live and view the world. I've been reading and listening to podcasts about the Baha'i Faith for a couple months now, I just haven't signed the card yet.
I listen to and love all types of music, except for anything mainstream. I've actually become physically ill from contemporary country and mainstream "hip hop" just makes me want to cry. I'm listening to a lot of African/middle eastern/Indian music lately as well as some more ambient rock and electronic music.
I have a problem with any type of fascism and a bigger problem with the bad case of Islamophobia that the US and much of the Western world has come down with. I don't play partisan politics, but I also don't support the Israeli state or any form or 'semblance of theocracy. I also hope to see that Baha'is in Iran and Egypt will soon be free from persecution. Maybe all of that belongs in a "Current Events" forum or something, but it's on my mind a lot lately.
Here are some recent pics with my short hair:
I agree completely. I often display hypergraphic tendencies, and had to strain to keep my above post "short"...mentally and physically. I cut my hand pretty badly on Christmas trying to open a zip-tie, so I have very limited mobility with my left thumb and forefinger. My little sister cut herself, not five minutes later...with the same knife, trying to cut the same zip-tie.
Cursed knife is cursed!
Bad zip-tie is bad!
Ok. I'll try this. If nothing else, it's less mechanistic than the tick boxes you get on dating sites.
I'm a 33 year old male living in Preston, England. I'm 5'11" and around 150lbs. I have blond hair and blue eyes, despite what my photos often show. I have AS, of course, so I'm not going to be what most people consider 'normal'. I have plenty of wit, but little charm. I'm kind, patient, loyal and tolerant, if a bit cynical (you don't have AS and get to 33 without becoming a bit cynical). My social skills are not the best, and if I'm seen to pause more than normal, then I'm just working out what to do.
I don't smoke, and do drink. I have a 35 bottle collection of Single Malt Whisky, of which I partake about 4 drams per week. I don't drive so as to make the world a safer place, without me on the road (I'm easily distracted).
My hobbies are mainly text based. I have about 400 books, mostly on the topics of history, science and sport. I also play guitar, and can play 'House of The Rising Sun' and 'Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)'. I prefer 60s music, as you can guess. I also write, but not nearly as much as I used to, as I'm easily discouraged by criticism and lack of reaction.
I rarely watch films, though can sit through them if I have to. On TV, I usually watch factual/documentary programmes, mainly about history and science, and comedy shows, providing they appeal to my sense of humour. My music collection mainly consists of stuff like Joe Meek, Roy Orbison, Del Shannon, various 60s girl group compilations etc. That sort of thing just appeals to my sensibilities.
I work as a shop assistant, as it's the only thing I know. I live with my parents, due to not having quite enough money to make moving out feasible yet (I have a five figure bank balance, but even that's not enough these days). I would greatly welcome any sensible chance to move out.
What I want in a woman? Just someone who's reasonably attractive and doesn't have an awful personality. I'm not tremendously demanding.
