So how do I get a boyfriend?

a lot of my lady friends think they are bad looking, but when in reality, they really arent. So your looks never really matter. [The only exception being overwieght/obese]. to be honest most people where i am are slightly overwieght. I think i am just about 5 pounds.
ooops. you had some other good advice on your post, but i got stuck on this part....
obese & overweight =/= universally unattractive
some guys, like yourself, may like to have thinner girls. great! i'm sure there are lots of girls in the normal weight range who will appreciate knowing that. but some other guys like their girls with some cushioning (or lots of cushioning). it's all personal taste... and lots of guys are just waiting to be converted to the chubby side.
i'm not special - i am not stunningly goodlooking or whatever. but i'm proud of the way i am currently shaped, and i really really really wanted to emphasize to the other big girls that read posts like yours on WP that they really can be just as successful as any skinny girl in the dating world. confidence is integral to that.
i didn't want your comment to bring them down. the rest of your advice seemed great, but my eye got stuck on this part.
i think i phrased it wrong. you are correct. under what i look for, is generally under 230 pounds. which allows for curves.
most of the men I have met are also within the same range as me, which is why I suggest to try your best to stay within a healthy wieght.
now, there are plenty of men around that love bigger gals, I myself actually was attracted to one not so far back, she got a boyfriend before i acted HAHAHAHA.
so it just goes to show, yeah, its a personal preferance I shouldnt have added. I apologize.
and @erisad. Im sorry the relationship with your parents isnt the best. I was trying to say that you dont need to have kids so young, that you can wait, because in all honesty if you wait, you may have more knowledge of raising kids by then.
I was adopted by two parents who really wanted me around. I would say it was damn near close to an ideal family life before I lost them.
so I'm sorry if i came off cold. I didnt mean to.

I do not care about your physical attributes.
I do not care how insecure you are, or how worthless you feel.
I do not care whether or not you are "damaged goods".
I just want to help you, and maybe find love in the process.
EDIT: if you are considering whether or not to IM me I suggest doing it before midnight tonight Eastern TIme, in 2 hours.

I just love how so many of the posts in this thread have alluded to the fact that if you're fat and/or ugly, you may as well give up because no one wants you. Sadly, it's held true for me so far.
It's not entirely true...the fat part isn't anyway. There are actually men out there that prefer fat women, and there is a large cultural factor as well.
If you want brute politically incorrect honesty....
In a broad sense general term.
White men like skinny or average women.
Black men like heavier women.
Latino men just like women. They seem to care much less about whether she is heavy or thin.
I think "ugly" often depends more on how you present yourself than how your facial features actually look. Sure, some people are just plain ugly and no amount of fixing up is going to help them, but they're in the minority.
Lol, I guess that's true. Hooray for cultural stereotypes!

Getting a boyfriend is ok. Keeping one is impossible. From my experience, men do not know how to deal with women with severe depression and/or emotional problems, and it's easier just to cut them off or make it look like its their own fault.
I've had friends cut me off for crying in the street when I was emotionally vulnerable and depressed. That's what I have grown to expect from men. One day, maybe i'll be proven wrong. I hope so.

It's been my experience that women do not want guys who are depressed. Women who are depressed themselves tell me that they don"t want to be with me because I'm depressed. Lots of people are hypocritical
Yeah well that is stupid. I can deal with male depression. Who am I to expect a happy happy guy when I'm as depressed as f*ck.
People like that make me sick.
If you can deal with male depression, why do you keep yelling at me when I'm in "that mood"?

Yeah. Grandma had her first kid at 20 and mom had my brother at 24. They feel like I'm doing something wrong by not getting married by now. Grandma only finished high school and my mom got an associate's degree. I'm going for a bachelor's degree which takes longer. So I don't have the time that they did. Not to mention they had to put little to no effort to get men's attention. Grandma was her school's Prom Queen (called "May Queen" back then) and Mom was the gorgeous girl who got leading roles in the school musicals and was in the top 10% of her class. They have such high expectations of me that I feel like I'll never impress them. Oh well, Mom's single now so I guess their looks didn't carry them far enough. If Grandpa was still alive, he'd still be with Grandma.
It's okay. I was in a mood where I thought everyone was being hostile towards me. It happens.

I've been told that I have no shot at it all my life, all right? I've had multiple guys say to my face that no one will ever want me because of my body and unwillingness to put out. How much can I really improve my situation right now? Until I graduate, I'm stuck. I want to be able to enjoy my last year of college but I'm so f***ing stressed out. This year will be my last where I'll be able to openly associate with the opposite sex. I'll be trapped at home until I get a job. When I get one, I won't be allowed to look at the male coworkers because office relationships will cause me to lose my job and I'll have to start over at square one.
How do you think I feel? I'm graduating from a 4-year IT program with a male:female ratio of about 20:1, and I'm probably going to end up in an IT job with similar proportions. And you, as a woman, don't have to worry that much about inadvertent "sexual harassment"... if anything, if I were you I'd be more worried about becoming a victim rather than an accused perpetrator. It's the men, especially the naturally creepy ones like me, that take the majority of false accusations.

Honestly, if I got to know you in real life, i would most likely date you. And I mean that... you seem like a genuine person, which is way more than I can say for a lot of women our age. Unfortunately, I'm just as skittish about online dating as you are.

Good to know. I think I'm genuine, since I can't lie to save my life so I don't even try. I get more ticks than a lyme disease patient. Lol, bad puns and Big Bang Theory references.
I'm just pissed at a guy who's rescheduled our dates so many times now that I feel like he really isn't interested in meeting me even though it was his idea in the first place. People confuse meee. Most of the other guys on the site who message me don't even bother to read my profile first. They list that they are interested in casual sex and I don't do that. I make that abundantly clear. Yet I still get messages like, "hey bby u fiiiine. How u doin?" Or something like that. Another guy messaged me when I still had AS listed on my profile but he only wanted to pick my brain apart because I was "fascinating." It reminded me of too many of the therapists/psychiartists/psychologists I've dealt with so I didn't like that. I took AS off my profile after that because I felt like I would get stereotyped and not get the most out of the site. *siiiigh* :/

Lol, yeah. It's like, I make it clear that I'm a writing major that holds value on a well-crafted sentence. You'd think someone who read that would try to polish up the language a bit. I'm not expecting Shakespeare or anything but is it too much to ask to spell out your words? We're not texting, there's no character limit so there's no excuse to be so lazy with your messages especially if you're trying to impress a lady. XD

It would be wise of you to wait then. The way I see it is that you want your potential children to have everything you didnt right? at least, thats how you should see it.
my dad used to tell me something. Life is awesome....then I had kids. [he would laugh, hug me tight, and say...] but at least i can trade them ostridges, so I guess life gets better.
which is true. Life as you know it is over once you have kids, your life, should be placed around their happiness, and no matter what, at least in my case, I would be more than willing to work myself to death every day for the rest of my lives for their happiness.
Im trying to put into perspective, that they may think you are doing something wrong, but they cant tell you when to get married. when to have kids. It is your choice, and I suggest you wait.
as far as getting from point A to point B. find yourself a boyfriend, follow some of my advice, and date them, serious relationships. if you really want to get married. date for 4+ years. then try livig together, and after that. well....you catch my drift.

My sexual orientation is listed as straight & I've used words in my pro like her, woman, she ect yet most of the messages I got are from guys looking to f#ck me . If I could turn gay; I'd have no problem finding a boy-friend. if women were interested in me the way guys are; I would be married rite now
That sucks. I get women hitting me at bars or anywhere else. That's when I realized that I'm short and stocky, have short hair and was wearing a plaid shirt. Damn you stereotypes! >.<
bewarethebob - Yeah, I have difficulty with the obtaining and maintaining a boyfriend. The longest relationship I had was 2 months and he didn't even want to kiss me. I found out that later he was seeing how much s**t he could put me through before I'd break up with him. He ended breaking up with me over Runescape. The more recent ex, the relationship was three weeks but we were friends with benefits for a few nights a year later.
*Cue breakdown here. Don't like that I'm feeling emotional? Tough!*The idea of me dating someone for over a year seems impossible. I'm jealous of those who can say, "we're celebrating our 5th anniversary!" The only anniversary I can celebrate is how many years has it been since a guy said I was pretty IRL without lying to be polite or trying to get into my pants. Then I realize that was my father when I was wearing my Christmas dress when I was 5. So yeah, 16 years. The reason I don't count online compliments is because people can have their real reaction and censor it before they post. Hell, everyone here could have been lying to me and I wouldn't know. You know what? I'm not worthy of getting married or having children, ever. I'd let them down as a wife and as a mother and be just as useless to them as I am to men and myself now.
