I still don't get this -- at my college there must have been 100 cute chicks in bible study groups, and I was in a pretty liberal city. I know for a fact there are girls out there looking for "Good Christians." There must be other college and youth oriented bible groups that aren't part of a school as well.

Not in my church (or any church near where I live)... the 18-30 demographic is decidedly lacking...

I can tell you from experience that there are no girls in church groups (unless you want to become a fundamentalist)...

When I was in my late twenties / early thirties I was in a Catholic young adult group that was 2/3 women ... I guess it varies.

And, for the record, I'd give that group a 5-10% marriage rate. Not bad, really.

I don't think such groups really exist where I live anymore... women around here are always talking about going down the shore, going into the [new york] city, etc. (in other words, places I'd rather not go... I'm not a fan of beaches or nyc, both mostly because of crowded situations, as well as the sun on the beach)...

Anyway, my church tends to lose people when they graduate high school, and then most new members join in their 30s when they're married with kids, i.e. not a place I'm going to meet anyone...

As in only 5-10% of people in the group got married, ever? Or 5-10% of the people married within the group?

Because it was worth it.

Things only become hopeless when we give up... I had a lot of bad relationships, was taken advantage of on a number of occasions - but I kept learning, kept looking, and came to realize she'd been in my life the whole time, just hundreds of miles away.

Young religious clubs are pretty standard in most schools and universities. They tend to be female-dominated. Also, from my limited experience, they have a higher proportion of pretty women who are also single. Unfortunately, I'm an atheist and find the very religious people that you would meet in these groups to be not relationship material. If you are religious then your views on this issue may differ.

Well, I personally haven't given up because I had one and now have a fiancee.

But I never gave up because giving up is pointless.

What does giving up have a chance of achieving? NOTHING.

At least trying might get you somewhere. Giving up definitely won't. You have to admit that, no matter how pessimistic you are.

That's why I don't give up, even though the situation is, in fact, hopeless...
