No sorry i didn't explain that well at all. I meant not everybody wants the same thing. Sorry for the confusion.

Gives me chills just thinking about it, can't remember what was being discussed but I said 'everybody wants the same thing, to be loved.' and the girl looked at me like I was certifiably insane shaking her head said 'No, that's just not true.'

I agree with this a lot. At least that's the way it was before I had any women in my life. I had this feeling I was missing out on a big part of life, and that dating would make me more normal somehow.

Dating has given me a lot of experience & knowledge for sure, but in the end, just made me appreciate who I was before. I've gone back to asking myself the OPs original question, as I really am a loner at heart.

I actually used to be like this when I was in high school in college. Then, in 2004, I went on my first real date, and in 2007, I had my first relationship. Now, I moved past the "relationship for experience" phase. But I'm now in the "relationship for convenience" phase. I want to have a relationship so I wouldn't have to look for a date when a social situation requires one. Instead of having to find any girl who likes me just to have someone to go to an event with (and I can't do it in one day like NT guys do), I'll already have a girlfriend ready and happy to go with me.

With ~80% in "have a meaningful relationship with" I'd say that's the typical. ;)

I love cooking (and are quite good at it too), and I can't be near someone who's cleaning without helping, I have a nervous breakdown. (Bad childhood.)

Quote:
To only have children so that I won't be there for them or for her

Kids...? Ehh... not really sure I'd be able to take care of them the way I'd like, so it's a big "if" on that one.

So I can have sex with her whenever I want

With my asexuality, it's more likely she'll rape me in the shower on regular basis.

Quote:
Have a meaningful relationship with

Hmm, by the process of elimination, this is the one. :D

I think if you're enjoying life, it's only natural to want to share the wealth a little. That's WHY I'd like to have someone around.

Because of the format of polls, you shouldn't have a choice include another choice:

1. Meaningful relationship should not include sex
4. Sex means you don't really have a meaningful relationship.

If you chose 1, why? Whats the difference from having a really close guy friend who you can do the things you like to do and talk crap with?

If you chose 4, assuming the best of all possible words - she's dumb as a brick, has no baggage and is hot as hell. Do you need 1?

When I was younger, #4 was the option especially since younger women looked better, were more fun and I ran into less crazies. As I get older, the meaningful relationship comes with a lot of baggage (yes, I can deal but it's energy I have to expend) and hassles. The women are older which is probably the issue (More mature? Maybe. Have more issues? Definately)

IMO, nothing beats snuggling in a large bed and comforters with a storm outside. Not quite #1, but not quite #4

Wait...what? I don't think the poll implied they were mutually exclusive.

Then what's the point of choosing anything but #1? A meaningful relationship can easily be interpreted to encompass the other points.

Do most relationships result in children? Do parties in relationships help each other and clean up after each other? Don't people in typical relationships have sex?

I think choosing 4 says you don't particularly care if the relationship is meaningful or not, you just want to remain sexually active without going through the courtship phase over and over. Choosing 4 is laziness, really. It's staying with somebody you don't care about through sheer inertia- because you don't want to go through the work of establishing another relationship with a different person just so you can have sex. But that doesn't mean that choosing 1 means "meaningful relaionship should not include sex". Most respondents in the poll chose 1, and I think that's really wanting a relationship that's both meaningul andsexual. Nothig in the wording says that it isn't. Option 4 is in there for people who would stay in a relationship without any meaning beyond the sexual. But that doesn't mean that sex and meaningfulness are mutually exclusive. I assume that the people who want a meaningful relationship want it to be sexual too (choosing 1) but somebody people just want a sexual relationship (choosing 4).

Do most relationships result in children? I doubt it.

I have to agree that this was not the most interesting selection of poll choices, because number one seems like the obvious choice for most people. I mean, pretty much nobody really wants to be a deadbeat dad or anything similar - including the eventual deadbeat dads themselves (number three), and almost no straight man would just be satisfied with a cleaning lady (number two). The choice between the first and the second could probably inspire more debate (e.g. commitment versus non-commitment).

It doesn't seem consistent. You choose 1 because you want a meaningful relationship AND want it to be sexual too. You choose 4 because you don't care if the sexual relationship is meaningful?

None of these really fit me. Of course, the obvious "correct answer" is #1. I already have meaningful relationships with people, some of whom happen to be women who are unavailable for sex for various reasons.

I can do my own cooking and cleaning, and it would feel weird to have someone else doing this for me.

Children who don't (yet?) exist aren't part of my consideration. If I were to have them, it would not be with the intent of abandoning them or the woman.

So I chose 4, but even this one is baited in a way that doesn't really quite fit. It is a requirement that she wants it, too, because the whole point of relationships is to provide the other person with something wanted and receive something wanted in return. I consider #1 a requirement, too, and #4 adds to it. The other side of it is that a woman might want a relationship with me so she can have sex when she wants it.

Let's face it, sharing nonsexual interests would be nice, and a major attraction for me, too, but my interests can be regarded as esoteric. I suppose ultimately some people with too much time on their hands may tend to become dissatisfied or bored with sexual interest by itself, but I wouldn't mind giving it a try, and maybe that really ought to be enough.
