Am I a romantic?

Only when I'm alone.

ok CGs post cleared things up a bit. I'm pretty sure a tree would be more romantic than me.

I hate when people misread some things I do as emotional or "romantic", for example- I've always liked making mixtapes so I'd make mixtapes for all my close friends or guys I liked. it's incredibly annoying that they'd get all "aaaw how sweet of you" and all that crap. just take the damn mixtape and shut up! lol. no point making a big deal out of it.

Oh the perils of mixtapes 8O for some reason I can't help picking songs that apparently say a lot about how I feel towards who it's given to. funny because I just thought it was a collection of songs I liked. haven't made a mistape since tapes were around fpr that very reason.

i'm just like CelticGoddess in that sense like doing romantic things but in the other sense too, it's not unknown for me to shed a tear upon seeing the sea after a lengthy absence.

this is the definition I was thinking of - "Our modern sense of a romantic character may be expressed in Byronic ideals of a gifted, perhaps misunderstood loner, creatively following the dictates of his inspiration rather than the mores of contemporary society."

and this is the picture that was beside the description.

something tells me I'm not the only romantic on here

yeah, that's the point of mixtapes - you don't have to say the stuff yourself. and they shouldn't either

oh yuck, is that the damn Werther? I hate romantic literature, why did they always have to kill themselves over girls? and they were never particularly interesting ones either! dumbasses.

Ooh I like that quote.

I'm always a bit miffed by what's considered romantic in the confusing world of social mores.

don't fancy weather just hills and sea :P Frankentsein is the only one i've knowingly read, there's a god bit in Don Quixote that takes the piss out of romantics where there's a guy who kills himself over a beautiful girl and she couldn't care in fact hates him more for it, all the men in the area think he's done a noble and romantic thing in the name of love and hate her for not marrying him and I'm pretty sure she kills herslef in defiance  dunno if it's eant to be funny but i thought so

most guys can't do it right and plenty of girls don't want it. one of the first things an ex said to me was 'buy me a bunch of flowers and we're done' it wouldn't have crossed my mind if she hadn't said it but that was probably the point

Music has been my longest standing obsession so I have countless playlists and people are always asking me for mixes. But it's rare that I create something specifically for someone special. Music expresses things best for me over words. typing is easier because I can go back and edit. Unfortunately, I've tried that editing function IRL after I've said something and shockingly, it doesn't go over nearly as well.

 I'm sure at one point in time I was a romantic, but I view myself now as being a pessimist and a tad more realistic. Sure, it would be nice to meet the girl of my dreams and be swept up in the ignorant bliss of love. But then again, our lives are hardly fairytale stories, not everyone has a happily ever after.

That is why I'm not a romantic, to be a romantic means to have hope in the idea that you just MIGHT meet that perfect someone and this will all fall according to plan. It is also when you're most vulnerable as well, and it would be easy to have those hopes crushed.

However, I have to admire romantics, because I guess I find it cute and amusing to hang on to a romantic notion that probably will not come true, but might.

Ironically enough, despite being a pessimist, I can be very charismatic, but that is only if I trust people, particularly members of the opposite sex.

I think it depends on what your view of romance is. I want to have someone in my life that I enjoy being around (not 24/7 though) but I don't need to be swept off my feet or find someone perfect. Just someone who balances me. And when I have that, then I like sharing the little things when I feel comfortable. I think you can be a romantic and be realistic. I know I am. ;)

Does it have to pertain to relationships?
I have a romantic heart. Nearly ruined me in high school. But I live my life right now more by practicality and apathy than romance.

People say that my writing combines stark realism and romantacism, which shouldn't be possible. I can see how it's true though.

Guilty as charged. When it comes to romance, I'm more of the chivarlous type. I also have a habit of being romantic in my art.

Take for example this song I wrote, when I first moved to Laramie, leaving behind my girlfriend in the process. I concieved the lyrics from both my love for her and my obession with Japanese culture. Here it is from my DeviantArt:

Ai banzai (Long live love) - a song by Roxas aka Long-live-Japan

I've never really romantic. The subject of getting flowers, I always thought there were two different types of us women: Those who get flowers, and those who the guys buy them from. Myself falling into the latter.
