I have never said I love you as far as I know, I've written it though about once. Affectionate phrases just don't come naturally even if I do have the emotion behind them. I don't even like saying it to family, and if they say it to me it creates a weird feeling in me, similar to discomfort but I can't quite give a name to it.

I love saying "I love you" but then I started hating it when i'm in this situation, its been 4 months and its still have been...... edgy....:(
She wished I showed it more, but its so hard to say it when her mind is on another guy....

I've never said it even though I've felt it. I guess I would never say it unless I was pretty sure the feelings were mutual. There is a lot of trust that goes into it. If there isn't enough trust, pretty much what's the point?

I don't think this is an Aspie/NT issue - I have been with lots of typical folk who have hang ups about this or preferences.

I do. I don't know what it is, but it's almost painful to say it. It's easier to say when I'm in a relationship (that doesn't suck). I've had two relationships, though, where I couldn't say it at all. I wanted to, but I just couldn't.
