Oh well at least you tried and got a first date. All you can do is jump back into the ring and try again.

You're right of course, I really feel like I accomplished a lot even though I struck out.

It's so easy to fall into self pity/giving up, especially in the face of perceived constant rejection - I have to keep trying.

Still, what I wouldn't give for a little dumb luck right now...

I agree - good for you and get back out there again. Didn't you go through a divorce also? I apologize if I'm misremembering, but -- if you did, that's a double score for you. Because it's can be really hard to re-learn this stuff after a divorce.

Yes, I had a recent divorce - I haven't had a date in 10+ years and I'm trying to re-learn.

Hopefully I'll get back on my game soon, it's really embarrassing being a 43-year-old "tortured twenty-something"! ;o)

I hadn't been on a date in 16 years when I first dated my now-husband. I had been with my ex husband since college. That is a double congratulations for you then. This is more about "you-making-progress-with-you" than it is about a partner. Good stuff.

When I first developed an attraction to Mr. Rath, he was fixing a computer for me. About the 3rd computer fixing visit, I realized I got a tight, buzzing stomach when he stood really close to me. I was *so* out of practice with dating, I thought: "Hm, am I getting a stomach flu?" NO!! It's a "CRUSH". Ugh! I felt like I was 17.

Good luck!

Thanks!

It certainly helps to have a sense of humor about it - being a middle-aged teenager is pretty absurd when you think about it...
