I am an Aspy and was wandering whar other peoples opinions were about online dating or foreign dating? Is going to Peru, Colombia, Ukraine or Thailand for 3 months to live with some girl a bad idea?

There are women in Peru who would be interested in someone with AS???

Why wouldn't there be?

Well, I haven't met any yet (though I'm undiagnosed, but...). In fact, I read this topic because I was asking myself if I should look elsewhere. But of course, there may be.
But I guess my problem is that people in general find me uninteresting and/or even scary. And of course, women are people (duh!). And since my friends are mostly a) living outside the country, b) too busy with their jobs, c) too busy with their families, or d) not interested in going out or establishing relationships with women (think of Tubby's club from Little Lulu, but with 30-, 40- and even 50-something-year-olds!), I currently don't have anyone who could introduce me to some friend...

Thinking about the original subject, I guess several people around here have a thing for foreigners, regardless of their condition. So I'm at a disadvantage in that respect.... ;)

OK, as someone from one of the countries mentioned, I find that comment offensive and based on prejudice and ignorance.

I'm married to someone from Poland take my advice it may work short term but not long term. I have two small children and he hates me. Says I tricked him and I'm defective and so is our son. I have to stay though because I can't support myself and a child with Autism until I get my Masters. Once his English got good enough and he realized how very different I am he is just like any other person that you'd date. Nothing I do is good enough and he is emotionally mean to me and our children. He's a religious fundamentalist and nasty as can be to me. I was 22 when I met him and lived abroad with him and he is constantly yearning to be with his mother and her small yipping dog that pees on everyone and everything.

My mother is from Peru and I found it amusing  . Seriously though, you are not immune from kidnap anywhere, but developing countries are particularly challenging, due to difficulty keeping track of these crimes. I have lived in several developing countries so I'm not coming from a position of ignorance. I have a cousin that has been kidnapped and extorted in Peru several times. Luckily for him it was just to the nearest cash machine. He knew the risks; he was working for a medical charity. Bully's advice is not so stupid. If you don't know what to expect, which you are unlikely to, then you are ripe for picking. That fact that these gangs are minorities is moot, they are targeting people like this.

The variety you mention is called "on-the-fly" or "drive-through" kidnap ("secuestro al paso"), and it's more a mugging than an actual kidnap; the only difference from being mugged at the ATM is that they take you to the ATM in the first place. And as you've said, those things can happen to anybody anywhere, really (no, they haven't happened to me), particularly if they are careless, so no reason to call them the "number one industry" for another country (the number one industry here is Fooling The Gringo, anyway ;) ).

I once was kidnapped by a russian czar who wanted me to live with him and his talking appliances in a desolate castle far far away.

Believe me it wasn't fun and the man was no prince charming as I had imagined after exchanging our vows online.

I told you, baby, I said "I'm where Russians ARE!" Not "I'm a Russian Czar"! And my roomie Slava is still convinced that you only left because of that stupid argument you got into with the microwave. I'm on your side there; how were you supposed to know that it didn't mean the door was literally a-jar? I'm not upset anymore and we've spent the last weekend cleaning up the nuked Strawberry Preserves from your whole unfortunate "microwave canning" disaster.

Please come back. Vinnie the Vacuum also misses you.
