Err yeah, but we split up after 3 n a half years in early January. Sorry to put a downer on that  I should have been more clear about that

You mentioned it was one of the more successful relationship. What do you feel(if you would like to share) was the success in it? (like good communication, or that it lasted long etc.)

I guess it worked out because while we were a mis match in some respects we each satisfied each others need for knowledge and for talking about the world and things that we wanted to learn and understand. That was something neither of us got from our friends or family and so being able to have those conversations is something both of us still miss now even after the mutual ending of our relationship.

Things we did that were part of our AS behaviour were more tolerated and understood then in my previous relationships. We both had a similair style of humour, we had our own tastes in music and she had her art work (of which she is very good at, traditional ar very good, has a degree in scentific illustration) were as I was a professional working with disabled people. There were interestes we shared. We had our arguments, but I think that was more because of her cultural background and upbringing from her part of the UK more then anything else. I think perhaps our downfall was we were emotionally and socially becoming too dependent on each other when we were both wanting to follow differnt paths. I being attached to my career as a learning disability nurse her wanting to pursue expanding her art work into tattoes and wanting to gain independence for living at her parents and not being financially dependent on me or her sister.

I'm not really able to go into more detals then that its not fair to talk about her or myself or our relationship on a board were people we both know IRL post. Also this month will be month 4 since our relationship ended and the emotional fallout from the event is still a raw wound on my person at this moment in time....not helped by my burnout and other things going on at the moment.

Just a quick update: she decided to ignore me, so now we're not even friends.

i cant help it i like aspie girls and guys i feel like i resonate on the same frequency and we cna understand one another better.

my first relationship was with an aspie guy and he pushed me away because he has a hard time letting go of past relationships and letting love and he is going through a difficult tiem in his life.it just wasnt a healthy relationship. im just having a really really hard time getting over him even though i know i deserve better.
there is another aspie guy tha ti kind of like now but i just broke up 2 weeks ago with my last bf and i got really depressed hanging out with the new guy and comparing it to my last relationship.
i dont want my feelings for my ex to get in the way forever or ill become even more suicidal.
i also have a crush on this girl who funny enough dosent have aspergers.

i feel like i want to keep trying

I would say I can go either AS or NT. I definitely have Aspie traits, such that I tend to focus intensely on just a few things, have a hard time paying a medium amount of attention to things (I tend to either ignore or obsess), and think that 90% of "white lies" are not as white as they're made out to be. That being said, I may have been more rigid in childhood but I've let go of a lot of OCD things, and because I'm excellent at following fair or semi-fair rules to the letter, I would likely do things the other Aspie's way in an AS-AS relationship. I would enjoy having the structure.

If a NT has enough interest in AS to actually fall in love with me, the NT has enough interest in AS to actually think about the different ways I think.

It would probably vary by how severe one has it. I have mild AS, and I have trouble understanding some of the unwritten social cues that NTs give out, yet a relationship with someone who has significantly severe AS could also be problematic.

I recently got back with my Aspie ex-girlfriend from about a year ago. In our last on-off relationship, we argued a lot about pretty much everything. However, we still had a lot of feelings for each other, and in the whole year after we'd broken up we still missed each other.

So, when we got back we tried to sort the problems out, but after just three weeks we realised we had started arguing all the time. Again.

We've both agkowledged that and decided it's best we break up, because it's inevitible anyway and it'll hurt less if we do it now.

It's a massive shame because we always seemed to have a sort of connection. She's the only girl I've really loved. :(

Have to work through your own problems before you can really be together. I know how this is. I love the man and he broke my heart. I realize we can't be together unless he changes.

I see where I needed change, and now it's his turn.
