I knew such bullies ..... they were used to bully me. Do they bully you? I doubt it.
I knew girls like you, the bullies' female fans, who liked such bullies. Those girls were used to encourage their bully behavior , directly and indirectly (by boasting them when they hit someone weaker, by cheering them, showing affection ....etc) .
As an answer to your question, it's simply really: You gave them the attention they are seeking for (the same attention that they worked out so hard for) and that's why they 're craving for more.
Why don't you date Jake? You two sound fascinated toward each others , it is so common to see relationships emerging between bullies and bullies' fans.
