Hyper - I agree that those people are really not that beautiful or accomplished but they think they are. Don't know if it is an epidemic where I live (New Jersey) but if I cut all communication with those who bragged about their beauty and/or intelligence/abilities, I'd have no one to talk to. Lol. I meet very few people who have moderate personalities. The ones who think they are normal are usually the worst offenders. I am interested in psychology, try to find the good in people and try to be tolerant of others' quirks as I hope they would be tolerant of mine.

I have a "problem" similar to yours hyperlexian when it comes to self-centred people. They seem to be focused on things I find annoying so I doubt Im missing much fun.

Apparently narcissism is more acceptable if its a woman the one doing it instead of a male, I have no clue why but its the way it goes in society.

Personally, I am much more comfortable with the male narcissist (throwback to childood, I guess! Won't go into it here.) The female narcissist just seems much meaner when she uses sarcasm, even without bad intent. Female aspies (such as myself) who have a flat and masculine voice may be more likely to appear cold and arrogant. It is difficult to alter speech patterns without acting skills or have the ability to mimic others. Becoming non-verbal in social situations is much less damaging than saying the wrong things to people.

It's not her. Ventura County is a bad place for singles looking for a relationship to live. The only guys there are gang bangers (who usually have a girlfriend anyway) and married men. People either hook up with someone in highschool and every year there is a huge exodus of single guys who go off to college or get the heck out of there after highschool graduation.

Maybe they'll come back but only after they're married and want a nice place to raise a family.

Kat, assuming you're not histrionic, can I ask why you use several question marks or exclamation marks in succession? E.g. "! !! !! !!", as opposed to "!". These do look exaggerated to me, and perhaps to other forum members as well.

i do that sometimes too, but i'm not histrionic. i don't think punctuation marks are an accurate measurement for personality disorders. i just enjoy exclamation points!! !!11!! !! !! !

Can you please scan and post your Psychology diploma? No? Then you can't diagnose, can you?

Exclamation points? Are you SERIOUS?

No label may be assigned to someone unless they satisfy a DSM criteria. That cannot possibly be ascertained from a small block of text posted on a Web forum.

Words hurt dude. Please be careful. Especially here.

Dont use capital letters, they are considered as a sign of bad manners on the internet and he may feel the need to diagnose you again

Hey, as I said, I was assuming you didn't have HPD, and I would be grateful if you were to answer my question, as I did not intend it to be an accusation. Why are you using so many question marks and exclamation marks in succession? What purpose does it serve?

okay, let me try it too:

primaloath, assuming you are NOT a narcissist, why do you have such a grandiose, exaggerated sense of your own ability to diagnose and categorize people and their behaviour over the interwebs?

hey that's fun! using this framework, i can insult a person while also pretending that i am just asking a question.

/sarcasm

seriously, please stop goading the OP.

I think many of you are taking this too far.

I don't think highly of self proclaimed "Stunningly beautiful or stunningly handsome" people, but I think tearing the punctation in her posts to shreds is going WAY too far.

To OP: This area of life is so riddled with complexities that I don't know where to begin.

On one hand, and looking at what a lot of people have said, do keep in mind your approachability. A lot of people will price themselves right off the market. Just like people can be under a league they can intimidate a lot of people as well if they seem potentially a bit reckless with others.

If you do have narrow standards, and I can speak with experience - a lot of us have them likely through no immediate fault of our own, your battle through the future may ultimately be with yourself; what you're willing to accept, what you aren't, and as time moves on just like I'd imagine the social forces that have perhaps trapped you in the current range of thought your in, life may open some doors as time goes on and - yes - as you get to be too old to be hip anymore. A big human struggle I think is, as we move out of our ambitious 20's fantasies, realizing that life is rather boring, that these urges are little more than evolutionary, and that we have been - all this time in fact - chasing ghosts.
