^^ True. :lol: I don't get it though. Gay guys go at it in public parks, toilets, etc. One park here is nicknamed 'gay park'. Everyone knows not to go there after dark, lest they'll run into a surprise or ten. There are always used condoms left discarded on the ground. Naaaaasty! Cops patrol the park frequently, but that doesn't seem to deter the boys.

Ummmm...

Why not do what hetero couples do: rent a room or invite them to your home! :?

and yes. the city is gay. but my area is filled with people who speak chinese. I have no idea what the grocery baggers are joking with me about when they talk to me, but i nod and laugh anyway....

That's all fine and dandy for making friends, and I do recommend this. But unless you're either supernaturally gifted or a master of manipulation, it's not going to result in anything other than friends. Friends don't want to go out with friends as anything other than friends, in my experience. I've only ever been able to convert one friendship into a relationship, and that only lasted a few weeks.

It would be so easy for me to just give up and consign myself to a lifetime of loneliness, whereupon in 50-60 years I'll die alone and completely forgotten, but there's a part of me that is just too damn stubborn...

Your view on relationships is seriously warped. I've dated several guys that were friends first, and I know for a fact that PLENTY of women do the exact same thing. Just because it didn't work for you, doesn't mean it doesn't work at all. Many women won't date a guy if they aren't friends first, and you severely limit your available dating pool by refusing to become friends first.

Okay, I misrepresented my intentions there. In an ideal world, I'd love to be friends first with a woman before going out with her. In fact, I can't even date someone i just met, because I just don't feel any attraction towards women that I don't know personally. But my experience shows that once a friend, always a friend... and never anything more.
