My mother used to say you haven't truly lived until you've suffered some. Take this as a lesson in life. From the way you describe the situation, there's no way you can go back with him now. You can't trust what he says, and furthermore he's not emotionally honest.
It might take some fortitude on your part, because my guess is he's going to want to come crawling back at some point. He sounds like the type. He'll say all the right things, and you might be tempted. I'm just saying be on your guard.
You deserve better than this. He's a coward and a cheat. Let him go.
